IT'S ALL IN THE MIND

The foolish intolerance, sometimes bordering on hatred between opposing religions
has caused wars resulting in the deaths of countless millions.
WHO WON ?

I agree with you Ann. Pharmaceutical companies make vast sums of
money manufacturing drugs that the patient can become addicted to.

I recall Bill once saying To thine own self be true, and as sure as night
follows day thou can't be false to another. RIP

David in my opinion sometimes the strength of a state of mind can overcome, say, pain or other irritations. sometimes if an anxiety state is not severe (in itself a state of mind) positive thinking and a generally positive nature can overcome it. However many 'states of mind' including severe depression such as Bipolar are caused I believe by a chemical reaction in the mind/body so, although when taking medication a good state of mind helps, the medication is required.

Your own situation obviously requires a good state of mind I am sure. :-)

Fortunately I was able to visit Bill both at Dunston Hill Hospital and the care home.
The other residents were unfortunately suffering from the same condition at different stages. I couldn't help but notice the absence of visitors. People will visit a patient suffering from broken bones or a lung condition or kidney failure, but a sick mind doesn't seem to warrant visitors. Sad. One of his daughters sold his house and put his wife in an Anchor housing flat at Bedlington. People are "vulnerable"
I hope the readers of this thread are well and happy.

I agree with you Dermot. Some of those terms are different degrees of the other.
In the 90's I's a friend who was a tailor. He was still making suits in his 80's.
He attended his work shop every day, often no customers for a suit or over coat or jacket. Just me having clothes repaired or altered. His health declined, slowly at first.
His memory began to fail him. He had to surrender his drivers licence to Swansea.
The General Practitioners who owned the building below his workshop doubled his
rent. He was obliged to cease trading. His health rapidly failed. He admitted into
Dunston Hill Hospital for observation, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.
He was transferred to Dovecote Nursing Home, High Spen. He died a few months later. An extremely sad end to a productive life.

'Anxiety State, Neurosis, Depression or Psychosis' - a fairly common exclusion clause within Health Insurance policies.

I wouldn't like to be incapacitated by these mental scourges.

Depends on whether your glass is half empty or half full

So often we hear the phrase It's all in the mind. This obviously apply to opinions
which are often based on education and other people's options. But many say that
our physical well being or lack of it is due to thought. Some think success some think failure. Some be depressed, some choose to be happy.
Do you have an opinion on the subject ?
