Hi all.
Has anyone any advise please.

We are both over 70 but OH has many health problems and he is in the extremely vulnerable group.
We have been self isolating for 2 weeks now.

He has had a letter from NHS saying that he should, among other things keep 2 metres away from anyone and sleep in a different bed .This would mean one of us sleeping on a settee.
Have I read this right or is it only if he has corovirus symptoms.

As we live in a fairly smallish house this is going to be almost impossible.

I am very worried about this as I am his carer and have to do a lot for him.

I am cleaning like a mad woman and cleaning everything that comes into the house.

Anyone else in this situation. :-S :-(

But as you have been self isolating for two weeks and are both ok I can’t see why you should be at a distance from each unless at times you are popping out to shop or get medication so may be at risk too

You can only do what is physically possible given the confines of your home

agree with wot Shirley says....if neither of you are showing symptons then carry on co- habiting as normal.....

we are 80+ and I am carer, cook bottle washer and everything else but are confined to barracks....

We have a family member in a similar situation. He has been told he should cook his own meals and eat them in a separate room, which is just not practical for him. I think the advice given is the ideal and you just have to do the best you can in your particular circumstances. It’s clear you are already doing your best to keep your OH safe.

Your OH has come under the SHIELD

GOV.UK says that the vulnerable person must not leave the house for 12 weeks (or more)

If others live with a person in this category they also must stay in for the same amount of time.

If they cannot do this, even if they are following all the rules carefully when out and washing hands etc., they must SOCIAL DISTANCE from the vulnerable person living with them. (as set out on the website)

This will only apply if the vulnerable person's household members have to go out and about.

We needed clarification of this too as my husband has IPF and ITP.
So I'm in for the duration, as like you AnnMarie, it would be virtually mpossible to carry out the Social Distancing from my OH in my tiny house.
Plus my husband relies on me to look after him.

If your health circumstances havnt changed in the last 2 weeks and you have not been outside in contact with anyone else and no outsider has been in your property then there has been very little chance of transfer ,,,,, carry as you are.,,stay safe.

We have been told to be in lockdown for 12 weeks
We are on day 7
Some days have not been easy lol
But my Back gardens well on the way to been ready for the Summer
And all the housework's been well done
Everywhere smells of Dettol or bleach
Our carer/ cleaner has been given 3 month off with full pay
She did offer to work
But I dont want to risk that virus getting in here

We are well looked after
Our Children go shopping for us
and leave it on the front step and step away

The hardest part
is not been able
to cuddle my children or the grandkids :-) :-) :-)

I have IPF and am on 24hr oxygen, can only walk 3/5 yards at any one time.
Social distancing is a no no for us after 55 years of marriage and my needs. As long as I am able I will be at my wifes side and her with me except when she does the shopping .

Just realised that the lady next door rang today to say she will do our shopping if needed, so wife does not have to go out. :-)

JoyBoroAngel, not being able to give our gorgeous twin grandaughters a cuddle is the hardest thing for us too. We have looked after them since they were born 6 1/2 years ago a couple of times a week. We do face time them but its not the same.:( We are in isolation for at least 12 weeks ( into week 2 now)and we are lucky to have a garden where we can retreat too.
