I've got Bertha as Bertha FRY, that's what family tell me as well & on John Sheppard her son's birth cert. I don't know where Phillips came from . Maybe a 1st marriage?!??

There seem to be several Sheppard / Fry links in that general area.

To find if they were relatives, you may have to track people back using census, before looking for more recent links from them on freebmd site.

Known as Bertha fry (maybe Elizabeth) born treorky
And her husband Henry Sheppard .
Lived in pontypridd their son my granddad was born in 1912 John Sheppard
I know Bertha died soon after.
