I am still using my old Windows 7 as it has all my links etc on it. I have a Windows 10 reconditioned one, but I like this one. The Avast Free Security is still protecting it for now.

We can NOT have a Welsh Special without this next one ....
EVERYONE'S FAVOURITE .....
MYFANWY .... BRYN TERFEL & MALE VOICE CHOIR
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2f382uMJvA
Not all of us speak Welsh, but this special Love Song from Wales has the ability to reach the hearts of everyone regardless of language barriers So what is the English translation of the beautiful song?
MYFANWY (Only verses 1 & 3 are usually sang which is a shame as verse 2 tells the story and sets the scene)
Why is it anger, O Myfanwy, That fills your eyes so dark and clear? Your gentle cheeks, O sweet Myfanwy, Why blush they not when I draw near? Where is the smile that once most tender Kindled my love so fond, so true? Where is the sound of your sweet words, That drew my heart to follow you?
What have I done, O my Myfanwy, To earn your frown? What is my blame? Was it just play, my sweet Myfanwy, To set your poet's love aflame? You truly once to me were promised, Is it too much to keep your part? I wish no more your hand, Myfanwy, If I no longer have your heart.
Myfanwy, may you spend your lifetime Beneath the midday sunshine's glow, And on your cheeks O may the roses Dance for a hundred years or so. Forget now all the words of promise You made to one who loved you well, Give me your hand, my sweet Myfanwy, But one last time, to say "farewell".

We always had home made Welsh cakes and Bara Brith (with lots of best butter..... a real treat) for tea on St David's Day. I still make the Bara Brith from Mum's recipe and it brings back many happy memories.

Back to the Cookery Studio now for Welsh Cakes...
Again recipes vary from family to family. This is the recipe that my Sister-In-Law uses and they are delicious!. She spreads them with Welsh Butter before serving.....
WELSH CAKES
INGREDIENTS: 1lb Self-Raising Flour 8oz Margarine 6oz Sugar 3oz Currants or Sultanas 2 Eggs A Little Milk Pinch of Salt
METHOD: Sieve FLOUR and SALT into a mixing bowl. Cut up MARGARINE and rub in with the fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add SUGAR and FRUIT and stir in BEATEN EGGS. Mix to a stiff dough. Add a Drop of MILK if necessary. Place on a floured surface, knead lightly and roll out to ¼ inch thickness. Cut with a fluted 2 inch pastry cutter. Cook on a pre-heated, lightly greased planc (griddle) over a slow heat until golden brown on both sides. Cool on a wire rack. Serve Fresh.

Now over to RADIO JEM's COOKERY STUDIO;-) ...... because we can't have Dydd Gwyl Dewi without Cawl and Welsh Cakes ;-)
People have variations on how they make these traditional recipes but here are a few choices
FIRST ~ CAWL
CAWL Serves 4 NB: This dish is best made the day before serving.
INGREDIENTS • 1kg/2lb 3oz neck of lamb (on the bone), preferably Welsh, cut into serving pieces • 2 litres/3 pints 10½fl oz lamb stock • 225g/8oz potatoes, peeled and chopped • 225g/8oz onions, peeled and chopped • 225g/8oz leeks, trimmed and sliced into 1cm/½in slices • 225g/8oz carrots, peeled and chopped • 225g/8oz swede, peeled and chopped
METHOD: 1. Place the lamb into a large pan and pour over the stock. Bring the liquid to the boil, then reduce the heat until it is simmering and continue to simmer for one hour. 2. Add the chopped vegetables and continue to cook for a further hour. Remove from the heat, cover and set aside to cool overnight. 3. When you are ready to serve the stew, return the mixture to the boil and continue to boil for 15 minutes, or until completely heated through.
TO SERVE: Divide the cawl equally among four to six serving plates. Serve with crusty bread and Welsh cheese.
Overnight preparation time 10 to 30 mins cooking time
