Caroline ..........

that is what really bothers me ............... paying out $500,000 a year for security. At least until Trump is no longer President of the US, as apparently her declared preferred place to live is Los Angeles.

We could hope that happens as of next January, if Trump loses the election. If not it will be another 4 years.

If they have $60 million, as suggested, I think they can pay their for their own security!

Well it seems anyone that's not a citizen can just choose to live at least part of the year in Canada now!! We're massively in debt but we can afford a small fortune for protection.....people live on the streets during winter but we can protect those that don't want to do their bit for the money they get....

Ex MP's are also given protection at the expense of the tax payer.

Prince Harry is sixth in line to the throne and is never likely to be anything closer than fifth. His boy is seventh, he is never going to be part of the core Royal Family, he will need to make his own living.

I think that Prince Harry is being quite sensible and responsible towards his family by striking out and setting up a lifestyle that will help his children go forward in the world while he is still young enough to do so.

As for royal protection. Wherever they were, whatever they did, that family, simply by the princes accident of birth, will need to be protected from malignant nutters.

Harmony within the Royal family remains a remote goal.

"Meghan’s chief crime is not to share the wealth and opulence that defines royal life, but to be deemed a fifth columnist: a woman of colour who epitomises the encroachment of the progressive values that are articles of faith for so many younger Britons. She has accordingly suffered her punishment beating. But a word of warning. Yes, the Tory right now has a majority, is drunk on power: minorities and their defenders are expected to get back in their box. But a younger generation that passionately believes in such values is going nowhere and, in the end, will win. Deep down, the culture warriors know that, and it is that insecurity that drives their viciousness."

If the truth be known its much more deeper than wanting to lead a life away from the confines of the royal family and Meghans hurt feelings ,,,,,,and that we may never know.

Thankyou for the update Barbara, I really won't bother to read the newspapers tomorrow, not for that anyway, as it will be just unfounded speculation unless it is an actual statement from the Queen herself, which is probably unlikely. :-)

I only found out about Nell Gwynne, Thomas Killigrew and his asking her to act, on Thursday night!
I have a couple of 'very close' cousins marrying, and having to get 'belated' permission from the King, and 3 generations of William Jory's marrying ladies with the surname Polkinghorne - who all came from St. Allen (Jory's and Polkinghornes) in Cornwall (which is a very small place) :-S
After that, the Cornish lot 'spread their wings' and went to Redruth - I mean, that's 3 hours walk away - a different country!

My ex's dad really wanted to find the son he knew the divorcee had.
I found him, but after Father in law had died. However, ex and his brother kept in touch with him.

That's a great bit of scandal to have Maggie, Nell Gwynne and her oranges :-) I don't have anything like that, the best I can come up with is a bigamist, and just possibly a castle in Ireland gambled away.
