Steve, the 1960 Adoption Register Index has the adoptees name in alphabetical order. The only other information in this index gives the year of their birth, the date of entry on to the Register, the entry number and the volume number. Someone with the appropriate authority would then have to access the volume for further information. |

I think the adoption register is just that...ie. the year that the adoption took place. Often this would be for a very young child but equally the adoption could apply to a child of any age, if still a minor. |

If you have already read the info on https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register and need a personal viewpoint, it might help to give a rough date, as certain specifics may have altered depending on decade ( and location). |
