I have 2 more Calamari SHANNARIS to do for the towny schools but that wont take long.

I really need to do my grandmothers family tree in full and get it written up.So maybe I shall concentrate on that.

A friend asked me if I could do her table...lol but im just a beginner

Actually thought it would take me lot longer but it didn't!!

I purchased a small orbital sander from Amazon with a voucher my son gave me.

It's a good idea to wear goggles too.

I gave Fred conjunctivitis when I did the floor.

Thanks ladies. I don't have any electrical sanders etc so will be doing it by hand bit by bit. Glad you mentioned a mask Gwyn as never thought about that!
Yes I want a pale finish so maybe the wax/oil would give it a nice sheen.

I shall be gathering all these tips and research a little online too and then make a plan.

I just cant sit and do nothing, my body and brain needs to be active in some way whilst im off work.

Im sure Sharron you will get there too and make a really good job.

Orbital sander three grades of sand sheet, varnish, wax and 00 grade wire wool and you will be knocked out by the shine you get on that piece of furniture.

I did our front room floor wit a belt sander and followed it he plot and with an orbital.. The bathroom floor is still waiting to be finished since I lost the plot and I have every intention of doing the stairs too (just after I come back from the moon maybe!).

I have never done this sort of thing, but have seen a few renovation efforts on TV and these thoughts come to mind....

Remember to wear a mask, when sanding. We don't want you breathing in any 'nasties'.

Would you be sanding by hand or with a machine?

Do you want a pale colour finish?
If so, I believe you can oil / wax and seal the wood rather than stain it.

As I have never done much D.I.Y I will leave it to the experts to better advise you.

I have decided that January will be a long quiet month, that maybe a new project will pass the time.
My kitchen table is a solid 6ftx 2 1/2 foot light pine. I bought it 2nd hand when I moved here over 2 years ago complete with 6 dining chairs in good condition for £50.
But ive noticed there are faded patches and maybe I could renovate it.
I would need to sand it down first, then woodstain and finally varnish?

I have never attempted this before so if anyone has, a few tips would be appreciated.
Im also wondering in total around how much it will cost?
