A heads up for anyone with a peanut allergy. As most of you will know peanuts are legumes and not nuts. To bulk out some foods producers are now adding another legume yellow pea protein. Around 12’000 people who are allergic to peanuts will find they are also allergic to pea protein. Please warn anyone you know with a peanut allergy as pea protein is not yet required to be listed in bold as an allergen on ingredient lists. |

This seems to apply in particular to some of the new alternative meat products that are now being produced and brought to market with great fanfare. |
