along with a couple of Wendy's kaffir lilies , didn't think of this then but did this morning, rather wish I hadn't!

"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today
To-morrow will be dying.
The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
The higher he's a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he's to setting.
That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times still succeed the former.
Then be not coy, but use your time,
And, while ye may, go marry:
For having lost but once your prime,
You may forever tarry."

""To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time" by Robert Herrick

Shirley the roses have done well this year haven't they, my fuschia was late blooming and I have weigela blooms still also. Miserable day today though so I am glad I picked the roses yesterday before they were battered.

Mine have been very prolific, even the miniature ones in a raised bed

Had a bumper crop of apples too on my miniature apple tree that grows up in on one stem.its over twenty years old and usually only has a few apples but this year it’s gone berswerk!

Think it was all the rain we had in Kent earlier in the year

The minarette pear tree didn’t have such a big crop as usual though

Hope you don't mind me adding this to your
thread Rose.

Splendour in the Grass

What though the radiance
which once was so bright
Be now forever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass,
of glory in the flower,
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be
In soothing thoughts that spring
out of human suffering
In the faith that looks through death
In years that bring the philosophic mind.
