STEPHEN JONES DRAFTED IN AS WALES BACKS COACH

Backs Coach, Rob Howley, who is facing an investigation for an alleged betting breach, is being replaced by former Wales and Lions Fly-Half - STEPHEN JONES (MBE)

Steve, who was set to join the Wales coaching staff under WAYNE PIVAC, when current Head Coach, Warren Gatland, leaves after the World Cup 2019, has been called in earlier than expected.

Since 2015, Steve has been serving as a Coach under Pivac for Llanelli based SCARLETS. Steve had also played his Club rugby with the Scarlets for much of his career.


STEPHEN JONES WON NO LESS THAN 110 INTERNATIONAL CAPS - 104 for WALES and 6 for the BRITISH & IRISH LIONS.

He retired from International Rugby in 2011 after Wales' Bronze Medal achievement in the Rugby World Cup. He served with Wales that year alongside 4 of this year's World Cup Squad - ALUN-WYN JONES, LEIGH HALFPENNY, JONATHAN DAVIES and GEORGE NORTH.


I'm sure that Warren Gatland, the Wales Coaching Staff and players are relieved that someone of Stephen's calibre will be stepping in to make to make the transition as seamless as possible so near to the start of their first RWC game.
