More Americans were shot to death by March 6th this year than died on D day.

I used to live in Santa Cruz CA.

Over the last 10 years death-by-shooting in CA has dropped by around 35% especially in places such as South Los Angeles and Oakland. There have been similar trends in New York which also has very tough gun laws.

Obviously the statistics are referring to the States which don't have strict gun laws. But good some States are bucking the trend.

The Blues are not far away from a break through in the GOP stronghold of Texas. If (when) they do the trend will be well and truly bucked.

France used to have a very high rate of gun ownership though crime connected with registered guns was always very low. The main problem has been illegal weapons used for both crime and terrorism obtained from outside of France. There is no right to bear arms. Many US Democrats ( and more sane Republicans) wish to use France as a model. The elite police (gendarmes) are armed at all times but the municipal police not. Day to day policing is carried out by the municipal police aka "flics"..

The Democrats and some Republicans may wish to tighten gun laws ............ but Obama tried, and didn't succeed, partly because the Dems didn't have control of both Congress and Senate.

But also the strength of the NRA (National Rifle Association was a huge part of Obama's failure ....... now that strength seems to be diminishing because of various scandals concerning the executives. Some people are hoping that strides might be made in controlling guns

However, one must never ever forget the numbers of Americans who believe that it is their Constitutional right to carry guns wherever and whenever they want to.

One must also never forget that many of the gun crimes in the US are carried out by people with illegal or unlicensed guns, just as in every other country of the world.

So long as Trump is in power, there isn't a hope ................ and one must also wonder what might happen if he succeeds in his grooming of his daughter Ivanka to be the first female President of the USA

Maybe good ol capitalism will save the day. In Oakland House prices have rocketed since gun deaths declined - an ongoing trend. Lots of businesses have moved in too.
I do not think that the founding fathers had arsenals of war weapons in mind.
Trump has not delivered on any of his promises to the rust belt. He is well behind in polls for this winters primaries. Great again?

They are only allowed to carry guns because of a mis-spelling in the Constitution. It actually should say "... the right to BARE arms" as in having their sleeves rolled up.

Guns by themselves do not kill people..
