lovely sunny day yesterday.

Today ............. cloudy, miserable. Snow due to arrive this evening, ca 5 cm OR it might be rain.

If snow, it will last through into tomorrow (Friday) morning), then turn to rain.

Saturday on will be sunny and cold again.

Can imagine it will not be fun to be out driving or walking on the icy streets on Saturday!

It has literally just started to snow ........... in time for the evening rush hour!

we have sun here, which means the snow is melting ......... but the temperature will drop late in the day and we'll have frozen snow aka ice.

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Feb 2019 10:09

Unless they like to skate...which I don't....

MotownGal Report 13 Feb 2019 08:45

Relatives have been having all sorts.

The snow started to melt. Then it iced over again, resembling an ice rink.

Then they had ice storms.

Not nice for them, is it?

Caroline Report 5 Feb 2019 17:48

Freezing rain and ice pellets due tomorrow.....hate the ice :-(

Margaret .............. hope you got your paper safely, and without falling.

My newspaper wasn't delivered this morning ........ we still have to the house delivery here. Phoned in, no apparent reason for it not being delivered, must be fogetfulness on the part of the carrier.

Unfortunately, they "no longer send out a replacement paper" as they used to do, so account will be credited for today's paper ......... and I guess we have to pay full price at the store if we want one!!

I was a little worried because my invoice for renewing my subscription arrived last Wednesday afternoon (that's when we get our mail delivery) ......... January 29, invoice showing subscription ended January 25. OOPS

Phoned in, girl at the other end said ................. that's Canada Post's fault. Eh?????

I thought work to rule had ended!!!

Anyway, I wondered if word had not got to the carrier that we were paid up!

Apparently everything fine there!

It's currently (almost 9 am) ca -6C here, no more snow but what is left is frozen solid.

I have to go out today, down near the waterfront, so it will be colder down there.

The Fraser Valley had real problems yesterday with very strong arctic outflow winds through the valleys in the mountains on each side of the FV ................ very very cold, and damage done. Even a large highway directional sign was blown over, with the supports broken at the bottom. Luckily it was one standing by the side of the road and not an overhead one so no other damage done.

The newspaper can wait!

We just got a little freezing rain. not enough to cause a problem but enough for them to cancel schoolbuses yesterday. They've canceled them again today. The temp is plus 5 now and we had rain overnight so it's terribly slippery. I'm going to have a problem getting my newspaper from my mailbox which is a rural mailbox across the road. My driveway is a skating rink. Guess I'll have to attach my ice grippers to my boots in order to get my paper.

Caroline Report 5 Feb 2019 12:19

Margaret hope you didn't get much if any freezing rain I see Quebec did nearby. Stay indoors if you did!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 4 Feb 2019 17:25

High yesterday here was 0.5C, went down to ca -6C overnight, and is now ca -5C at almost 9:30 am. High today expected to be -5C .......... so I guess no change!

Wind chill factor = feeling like -12C

Flurries of snow all night, we have less than 1 cm at the house, more in other parts of the city. Sun is shining but the sky is a strange whitish colour.

Many parts of the province are down to -40C.

These temperature changes are happening so quickly ................ people were taking photos of snowdrops and the winter cherries in flower last week. :-0

Caroline Report 4 Feb 2019 12:10

:-D Seems we're staying above freezing for 2 whole days/nights but by breakfast tomorrow we'll dip down again. They threaten freezing drizzle on us yesterday but we didn't get any, hopefully, you'll be as lucky too. Stay indoors and warm.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 4 Feb 2019 10:51

Even though I'm in the same province as Caroline our temperature never got above zero. Today it's minus 7 and we're under a freezing rain warning.

Caroline

Caroline Report 4 Feb 2019 01:43

Good luck :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 3 Feb 2019 23:18

the temperature's dropping here ............ it's colder now at about 3:15 pm than it was at 9:30 am, the sun is shining, but the little bit of snow that fell late morning is now frozen.

Caroline

Caroline Report 3 Feb 2019 23:03

Yep only meant to be 4 all day and night but we're at 8 but less rain than expected just a slight drizzle.
