MotownGal Report 13 Feb 2019 08:45

Relatives have been having all sorts.

The snow started to melt. Then it iced over again, resembling an ice rink.

Then they had ice storms.

Not nice for them, is it?

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Feb 2019 19:40

we have sun here, which means the snow is melting ......... but the temperature will drop late in the day and we'll have frozen snow aka ice.

lovely sunny day yesterday.

Today ............. cloudy, miserable. Snow due to arrive this evening, ca 5 cm OR it might be rain.

If snow, it will last through into tomorrow (Friday) morning), then turn to rain.

Saturday on will be sunny and cold again.

Can imagine it will not be fun to be out driving or walking on the icy streets on Saturday!

It has literally just started to snow ........... in time for the evening rush hour!

Caroline

Caroline Report 15 Feb 2019 00:39

Sunny all morning....cloudy but warming up all afternoon...will be 4 degrees tonight and raining and minus 4 by tomorrow afternoon.....stand still long enough you see all the weather...

SylviaInCanada Report 15 Feb 2019 01:07

It's snowing really hard now :-(

OH went out literally a couple of minutes before it started, meaning to either walk or take 2 buses to the nearest Best Buy to get a new power cord for a laptop. He's still not home ............ I expect the traffic is having problems, and he'll come in looking like a snowman! :-D

Email yesterday from my brother in law in Victoria BC.

The brochures on Victoria will" trump the fact" that it never snows here !
The schools and colleges were closed for 3 "snow days". One snow day happen occasionally but three never before now.
I had to shake the snow off the evergreen magnolia (large) leaves out front and the California lilac to prevent breakage of branches with heavy wet snow. It was fun as the temp was a "brutal" minus 3 which I can endure bravely at this stage.
Jacq. went to Regina to be with her Mom as she had a hand (carpal tunnel ) op. which went well this AM . She will play the Florence N. role for a week or so there or longer as needs must.
The temp there this AM was a cool minus 29 c. with a slight wind.
I hope you are avoiding the rigours of mid winter and staying warm.
I hope the porridge recipe is finessed and flourishing these mornings.

{Porridge: I enjoyed it while we were there last October. So we went to where he buys it and I brought a stash home. Very different to the Irish Jumbo Oats that we usually have.}

Rellies have had a bit of a thaw too. The average temperature has risen to about -6, so not as back as before.

Roll on Spring!

Caroline Report 19 Feb 2019 13:19

SylviaInCanada Report 19 Feb 2019 17:23

We have a mucky mess of drizzle, showers and flurries of wet snow at the moment .......... temperature is hovering between o and +1C

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 20 Feb 2019 13:08

Photos sent to us this morning, show about 1 ft of snow.

Lovely to look at, but treacherous if you have to travel.

I have a composter in my garden which is about 3 feet high. It is now completely buried in snow, can't even see it. Our worst problem is driving, the snowbanks are so high that you can't see if anything's coming, you have to inch your way into the intersection before you can see what's coming, sometimes too late. And like Caroline we've got freezing rain coming tomorrow.
