Wales’ First Choice Fly Half DAN BIGGAR now plays his club Rugby in England. He left the Ospreys to play for Northampton at the beginning of the Autumn Season. He still qualifies to play for Wales under the new criteria, as he has won more than the now compulsory 60 Wales Caps. However, he was not free to play in Wales’s game v Scotland today, because this game falls outside the International Season Window.

Scarlet’s Fly-Half RHYS PATCHELL is recovering from concussion and so is unable to play today either. He has been seen by a specialist in Birmingham and will have had to follow a strict concussion protocol.

So today, the Fly-Half Position has gone to New Zealand born GARETH ANSCOMBE. Gareth, whose mother was born in Cardiff, plays his club rugby at Cardiff Blues. He can play in both the Fly Half position and at Full Back (15)

ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL FLY HALF UNAVAILABLE FOR DUTY TODAY - SCOTLAND’S FINN RUSSELL. This is because he now plays for the French Club Toulon. Again, as this game is not within the window for the International games, Finn has not been able to be released.
This also applies to Scotland’s 1st choice Scrum Half / Kicker GREIG LAIDLAW who plays in France for Clermont Auvergne, and SEAN MAITLAND who plays for Saracens (England)

Scotland’s First Class Full Back Stuart Hogg has been out since September with an ankle injury which required surgery. Taking his place today is Edinburgh’s Blair Kinghorn.
