Over Easter, something kind of clicked in my mind and I started getting on with things a bit.

Not before time, I have started wanting to gt on with things a bit and have resurrected the bread machine. Making a loaf in it is nothing like the frightening prospect it has been for far too long and I am also turning out rather more varied meals. We have eaten a lot of shepherd's pies since I lost it.

I suppose things have been achieved while I have been hiding behind the sofa (metaphorically, really I was just hiding in the corner), that patchwork quilt that had been hanging about for over forty years is now adorning the bed, we have finally brought OH's finances under control and he can't believe how much easier his life is and I am no longer permanently exhausted. Sometimes I think I just needed a bloody good rest and had done for most of my life!

Anyway, my mind is far more clear and receptive to ideas now so I have resumed my 'ephemeral' interest in medieval stuff. We are cooking the village lunch again in June and I have it all planned already, as well as preparation for next year re pickled onions and chutney. There is an article I have to write for our village free magazine as well. That was not how it was meant to be at all, I contributed, hoping it would inspire others but it just meant I was expected to do one monthly, goddammit!

Now, I have applied to join the local U3A and am hoping to go to a talk there tomorrow.

Be warned, it was good while it lasted, but she is coming back bit by bit! Be afraid, be very afraid!

Couldn't have done it without OH and Fred's mate.

It's good to have friends and family to help us through tough times.

You are doing well. Forward planning with a sense of purpose is certainly progress.
Well done.

I agree with Gwyn completely :-)

I am glad I did it without recourse to medication. At least I don't have that to come off and the dishcloths, I still turn one out now and again, are not very addictive at all.

Well done. Hope you continue to make progress. :)

Thank you. I am glad I went with it rather than tried to overcome it. It was necessary.

Sharron I know the U3A is as good as the members make it!....if people have ideas and interest it knows no bounds.

Good luck in your future endeavours.

OH and I have been and joined.

Don't know about it at all at the moment. That woman who had made several patchwork quilts when I was finishing my forty odd year one was there and I think there might be a few more who know because they know they know.

Oh well, we will see.

Well done Sharron and welcome back, good to see that sparkle.. we joined U3A 18 months ago and have enjoyed it. Of course, like any organisation you get the ones who think they are there to lead us where we might or might not want to go but on the whole we are pleased we joined.

Thank you Ann.

I do feel different now, like I am emerging from something.

We will just have to see how the U3A goes.

Caroline

Caroline Report 27 Apr 2018 18:32

My understanding is the U3A allows groups on whatever you want as long as someone will organise it.

Have just joined U3A after taking early retirement at Easter because of my mental health issues. Hoping to go to my first meeting in a couple of weeks.
