...I'm waiting to retire. Only another 5 years of the 6 added on to go....

I only went to Uni to see if I could.
Initially it was just for a laugh - I mean, I have no 'A' levels - and was a (divorced) single parent!!

I knew, if I was going, that I had to go before the girls left school, so I trawled through UCAS clearing, found two subjects I was interested in, applied - and was accepted!! I didn't even have to do an 'Access' course.
After that - I had to carry on :-D :-D

I did not go to uni but I did run my own electronic business and now help 2nd hubby with his business. I am content and happy in life and that's all I need. :-D :-D :-D

Yes! I'm actually a qualified Norland Nanny!! :-D
Never 'nannied' though. Didn't actually agree with their (then) philosophy.

I went to uni when I was 40 - with 4GCE's, 1 GCSE (Maths, taken when I was 36) and no 'A' levels.
Managed a BA(Hons).
Okay, only a 2.2, but I had 2 horrendous teenage daughters at the time :-S

..mind you, it's probably considered by 'some' to be a cr*p University - but still, I did the work, and I'd defy anyone to say, even living in the same house with teenage girls is easy :-|

Just like to say, both daughters survived, no longer teenagers and lovely :-D :-D :-D

Oh yes, LaGooner - I forgot, I went to college too :-D

Mel, I have to wait a while before the system allows the menu to drop, so I can choose the board I want to go on.

Well hav'nt you all been busy posting!! :-D

I have just had the Error page again after logging on this morning and leaving the pc for a while when my BIL and SIL called in and stayed till 6.35pm. In the end I had to click on Cutomer Support on the error page and wait ages for it to load and click on Community to get on here.

I see Sylvia has not had problems at all but lots of us have whether we have been educated in the UK or abroad cannot make any difference. IT IS GR and thats that.

I have a very good connection from BT all the firewalls etc that my other half can put on here and everything is clean and up to date as he sees to all that.

maggiewinchester Report 10 Sep 2017 19:16

I was educated in Scotland (when the education system was excellent) and the UK .
Passed my 11+ - but am, apparently, still a pleb! :-S

Where were you, educated, Rollo, if everyone else on these boards had a cr*p education?

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 10 Sep 2017 18:57

no offence meant Sylvia none at all.

noted that you have no connection problems with GR which is my main point.

I shall repeat as I seem to have been invisible after my earlier post ...............

I have not had a problem logging on, opening threads, seeing information under avatars or posting

and just look at the number of posts that I have.

and before Rollo insults my education and/or the country where it took place ................. I was educated from the age of 4 to 24 in the UK

Oh yes - I believe it's only accessible via special software.
Something I wouldn't be interested in - that's neither the Dark Web nor 'special software'.
YAAAWWWWNNN.

Caroline

Caroline Report 10 Sep 2017 15:33

Oh maybe it's the dark web or whatever it's called....totally in the dark myself

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 10 Sep 2017 15:20

....they'd (no doubt) be 'interesting places' we plebs would know absolutely nothing about - or indeed have the intelligence to even ponder on.

One presumes.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 10 Sep 2017 13:49

Following on from Nyx' post yes, I do have connection problems. By and large they are with the interesting places on the net which were very difficult for physical access before even if your name was Holden Caulfield.

The recondite, the unconventional, resistance to the norm, the new, minority reports. They are being squeezed to death between the rocks of traffic shaping and one million lawyers.
