I'm surprised that JONATHAN DAVIES is not commentating ...

Jonathan was a very famous CROSS OVER from Rugby Union to League in the days when it was considered TREACHEROUS!

In those days Union was amateur and you had to cover your own expenses. Very hard if you had a young family!

After watching so much rugby this year, decided I like league more than union, like you say Jem union not as aggressive. Hubby likes union but we both love it. 6 0 down but we can still do it :-D :-D :-D

HALF TIME SCORE

AUSTRALIA 6 ~ ENGLAND 0

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 2 Dec 2017 09:46

Opportunity lost as England take a quick Tap Penalty in a very good area, but made a mess of the ball handling!

SAM BURGESS ~ ENGLAND

TV Commentator is commending England's SAM BURGESS (11)

You may remember that Sam CROSSED OVER TO UNION in 2014, playing for BATH.
He was included in the ENGLAND Squad for the RUGBY UNION WORLD CUP in 2015, but he did not shine in the opinion of experts.

He missed League and in particular playing with his other League Teammates including his brothers, one of whom are in today's team- TOM BURGESS (15)

TRY AUSTRALIA BOYD CORDNER

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 2 Dec 2017 09:21

That was an example of the six tackle rule

The Aussies were nearly at the England Tryline with only one tackle left. They kicked and then England took the ball. I think anyway :-D

PENALTY FOR AUSTRALIA THIS TIME

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 2 Dec 2017 09:18

PENALTY AUSTRALIA ... DUE TO AN ENGLAND HIGH TACKLE

HAND BAGS :-D :-D :-D

REF HAS WARNED AN AUSSIE .... HE'LL BE THE FIRST ONE OFF IF HE'S NOT CAREFUL :-D

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 2 Dec 2017 09:16

Australia are attacking near England Tryline

But England have taken the ball under the posts

In LEAGUE .... They sometimes pass the ball backwards from BETWEEN THEIR LEGS!

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 2 Dec 2017 09:15

England make the first mistake of the game

Not sure what it was... bu to do with the tackle :-D

SOME COMPARISONS BETWEEN RUGBY UNION AND RUGBY LEAGUE

PLAYERS
Rugby League- 13 / Rugby Union - 15

POINTS
TRY:
Rugby League - 4 Points / Rugby Union - 5 Points
CONVERSION:
Rugby League - 2 Points / Rugby Union - 2 Points
PENALTY GOAL:
Rugby League - 2 Points / Rugby Union - 3 Points
DROP GOAL:
Rugby League - 1 Point / Rugby Union - 2 Points

A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RUGBY LEAGUE AND RUGBY UNION

RUGBY LEAGUE HAS A SIX TACKLE RULE:

An attacking team has a set of six 'chances' to score, often referred to as 'six tackles'. The referee keeps track of how many tackles have been performed in each set of six.

When a side has used five tackles, the referee signals "fifth tackle" by raising an arm above his head with fingers spread, indicating that five of the tackles in the set have taken place and the next tackle will be the last.

After a sixth tackle, the attacking team must hand the ball over and the new attacking team starts its own set of six by playing the ball at the point on the field where the last tackle was made. Usually the attacking team kicks the ball onwards after the fifth tackle in either a last-ditch attempt to score, or to force the opposition to start their next set of six tackles as far back as possible.

No such rule exists in Rugby Union.

IN RUGBY LEAGUE THERE ARE NO LINEOUTS with THROW INS.

THE SCRUM IS NOT CONTESTED IN THE SAME WAY AS IN UNION.
They just have a little huddle. The ball goes in and comes out more or less straight away.

There are probably more differences ... but I’m still trying to work it out lol! :-D :-D
