Sharron, I do like the way that you can go straight to the nub of many things :-D

Well, well. we are back to mud slinging and value judgements.

Just another political debate on Genes.

A Rolls Royce maybe ??

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 15 Mar 2017 11:15

Just read through a bit more.

Rollo, what's wrong with Qashqais? I have had one for a few years now, and another Nissan before this one, and I've never needed anything done to them other than replacement tyres and windscreen wiper rubbers. I have ferried grandchildren for miles in them, to schools, sporting events, holidays and days out. in fact, I am thinking of a new one next year.

You drive a ....... ?

Let me know so I can give it a tongue-lashing. :-0

Caroline Report 15 Mar 2017 11:10

Rollo they're hardly being dragged against their will insomuch as they took part with the whole of the UK in the vote, you could, therefore, argue anyone who didn't like the vote could moan...oh hang on that's right they do...often....loudly......
Once you cast your vote for ANY election/referendum you have to honour the result end of....otherwise why bother.

supercrutch Report 15 Mar 2017 11:02

Grief, I was told that Rollo's jocular remark about Aberfan had been reinstated.

Obviously the admin that took that decision has no idea of the terrible tragedy that took place there.

To make light of the deaths of 116 children and 28 adults is beneath contempt.

Well, GR members as well as those of other groups can now make their own minds up as to the suitability of that comment on the public forum.

I'm just fed up with the whole dithering lot of them.

If we're coming out, come out.

If Sturgeon wants a vote on independence, do it now.

I'm sick of hearing all of the excuses .... got to wait for this, that or the other, got to get this or that agreement.

I know it's politic to wait for decisions on various things but I can't believe I'm the only one who's fed up with excuses, people debating what's right or wrong and so on. It's all down to Cameron and his ineptitude, in my opinion. The only thing in his favour is that he wasn't as bad as Blair.

Rollo, Murdoch looks after Murdoch. We can expect no more from him.

I have always thought that the nations of the British Isles are best off as a union. hot heads in the British army led to the departure of Eire. After that the English treated the smaller nations as provinces instead of giving them the respect of partners.

Eventually this nonsense had to stop with the granting of devolved powers to the three subsid parliaments. Trouble is neither Tory or Labour could crack the habit of seeing the other nations as provinces. Where the logic has been to progress to a federal structure London has sought to grab back powers and force the other countries into unpopular domestic policies.

This attutude has been taken to the nth degree by both major London partiez whosee it as quite OK for them to be dragged out of the EU against their will.

The better together campaign had ongoing EU membership right left and centre so it is hardly a surprise that the SNP Are keeping their promise of a second referendum.

The Scots are between the devil and the deep blue sea. On the one side the brexiterd are dragging Scotland with them to chaos. on the other side a rocky Road to full independence. A dead bird in the hand is prob worth more than two in the bush.

The Maybot is now in panic mode and is trundling around the Celtic countried belatedly "consulting" on brexit. The only thing she could offer is a u turn on the Single Market. Of course Sturgeon would drop her ref2 with such a move. leave claimed that the UK would remain in the Single Market.

Before the end of March we will see just how sacred the union is to T May.

The redneck press slagging off the Scots, the EU, judges andvso on ad nauseam does not help. The Scottish Sun today slagsoff the English the London edition does the opposite - a good guide to the sincerity of the Murdoch empire.

JoyLouise Report 15 Mar 2017 09:29

Gawd, I do wish she'd stop faffing about and make a decision.

Personally, I don't care whether she decides to try to separate Scotland from the rest of the UK or whether she tries to chance her luck by going it alone with the EU.

I do think that even the Scots must be getting heartily sick of her threatening attitude and her dithering about and they must be starting to wish everything was settled one way or another. Everything seems to be in limbo for them at the moment and I wonder how businesses are coping with the no-action, no-decision situation they find themselves in.

Get a move on Sturgeon; give everyone a break FGS.

Caroline Report 15 Mar 2017 09:21

I see super quick time Rollo RR were reinstated but not Supercrutch...didn't see her comments so no idea why one not the other.

Caroline

Caroline Report 15 Mar 2017 09:18

So the question has to be then if they decide to separate how will they manage.....except of course for instant blow up car factories where no car industry really existed before.......and if no EU what currency would be used.....we've been here before how about some solid answers?
What would the Government structure be President as leader ?

BBC reports that support for Scottish independence is at its highest ever, less so for the EU though:

Hmmm......didn't our little friend from Scotland just say she doesn't want to join the EU now when Scotland separates ??? :-D

Caroline

Caroline Report 15 Mar 2017 00:03

And the Bank of Montreal just happened to choose that moment in time to change their name to BMO :-D

At least with Scotland there'd be no First nations to worry about :-D

I really do have to equate the Scottish separatists with the Quebec separatistes of some years ago (but now lying low) ............

Just replace England/London for every mention of Canada/Ottawa

We must separate from those who are oppressing us.

We can and will do better as an independent country

Oh, by the way ..............

We will still receive all inter-provincial payments from Ottawa after separation as we did before

We will continue to use Canadian dollars, issued by the Canadian Mint (in Winnipeg)

We will continue to use passports issued by Canada but under the name of Quebec

We will have our borders defended by the Canadian Military, as and when needed.

The Canadian Border Services will still be responsible for all immigration inspections at all international airports and other ports of entry into Quebec

We will increase taxes on all companies with head offices in Quebec and doing business with Canada

We will become a purely French-speaking country in North America, with the aid of Canada

All education in Quebec will be in French, there will be no English school boards or universities

Oh, and by the way ........

............. no part of Quebec will be allowed to separate from Quebec. This latter condition arising after a First Nations nation declared its members did not wish to secede from Canada, and therefore their territory in northern Quebec would separate from Quebec and remain in Canada.

No wonder head offices of many companies moved from Montreal to Toronto at the height of separatism in the 1990s.

Sorry, have to lower the high-flautin' tone here.
Quote from Rollo:

"the reality is that I rely on my memory and improve on the facts as and when the opportunity presents itself".

...or make things up that in your mind are true, based on your assumptions and (therefore) to your mind possibly factual, but you don't really know, however will state them anyway as 'fact' - especially if it makes you appear 'better'/more 'informed' / of a 'higher intelligence' than them, for example, personal comments you've made about members of this site that were/are total Bullsh*te, and very far from the mark.

Edit: Glad to see your carpal tunnel syndrome/broken finger/amputated hand is better.

But to address something Rolo said......IF they took two years from turning the first sod...that still doesn't include the planning etc before hand....
