Of course you also have to look on the positive side...whilst "his" party are basically totally in control they don't like him so they will try to rein him in as much as they did BO......many also quote the finger on the button..well there's his and a general or whatever...whereas in somewhere like north Korea.....I'll sleep happier with the USA situation than the other.

The problem is that paying £2 instead of £5 means that so many other factors have to be taken into account.

Quality

Who pays for shipping - hopefully unlikely to be the destination country.

Import duty

The cost of paying out dole and benefits to those thrown out of work by a decision to buy outside the home zone.

The cost of paying out dole and benefits to those employed in the associated satellite industries.

The lost revenue to those whose income drops when thousands of people have little spending power and their own staff numbers have to be reduced, adding to the dole and benefits bill, eg holiday firms, electrical industries, car manufacturers and umpteen luxury goods dealers.

The loss of the ability to train future engineers and technicians in our home country because India, China and the like will not offer that training to us. The adverse effects of such a decision reverberates down the line to our children, grandchildren and so on. Our position on the world stage is then likely to go into reverse.

And yet, people have voiced concerns over the latest decision by an overseas car manufacturer to build two new models in its UK plant. (Madness to my mind. People should be grateful that an overseas car maker is training engineers etc rather than upping sticks and putting more out of work.)

It must be a huge concern to government, parents and grandparents.

I know, same as the Shard in London and many more is built in imported steel..would anyone pay £5 when the same can be bought for £2.

......Supermarkets etc use China et for many products ,,,,better deals....their foods stuffs are done in places other than here,,,,,,,I know of one struggling company whos a supplierr to Asda with an English based work force who had to go to the lowest line to get a deal so they could keep some workers in work...........its no different in other areas.

Kay???? Report 9 Nov 2016 13:42

Havnt voters in every country been dissapointed with every outcome of who got voted in,,,,,the losers just have to suck it up and except it.

Its been under BO that the steel industry in US has gone down the pan...........like any buisness man the best deal will always be sought.......thats why Asda and the like dont have British suppliers.

I wonder how hes going to run both buisnesses. but hes a buisness man first.always has been and will be.
:-D :-D :-D.

"Trumpton!" Nice one, Ann.

Nellie the Elephant ... I recall Mandy Miller singing it but I had no idea there were so many verses! Fun and innocent times of yesteryear. Forever gone, methinks!

On the radio, moments ago, Mr. Trump has been described as "The biggest alligator in the swamp." Nice one!

I was certain Hills would win by a landslide, regardless what the polls showed. I truly thought when the voters were at the ballot box they would seriously (?) consider what was at stake and vote for the lesser of two evils. Silly me. What an abysmal choice they had in these two! Perhaps if old Bernie was in the running he would have secured a comfortable victory. We'll never know ... and likely never hear of him again.

I have always believed after an election is called - regardless its 'importance' on the political 'ladder' - polls should be banned 72 hours later. Let it be up to the electorate in the meantime to listen to the candidates and make up their own mind for whom they wish to vote. There are too many sheep today who vote, methinks!

Oh, well "Que cera cera" the next four years.

Awful, isn't it? But not all Americans, thankfully, some want gun control.

Caroline

Umm....that's the American way...guns...guns and more guns....

I have many American friends who are utterly horrified by Trump getting elected. They are lovely normal people.

The baying crowds at the Trump rallies threatening to storm the White House armed with guns, however ....

As far as Brexit goes, I'm waiting for the £350 billion to the NHS promised by the Brexiters.

But I didn't believe that either.

Caroline

Caroline Report 9 Nov 2016 12:48

Have you ever been to America Guinevere ? It's full of lots of lovely normal people but they are very inward looking people in many respects. They are so fed up they would believe anything in all honesty. So surely the biggest question should be why didn't the Clinton group seize on that too in their own way ??

JoyLouise

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 9 Nov 2016 12:45

*Oh seriously do you honestly think they don't all lie just to get elected !!*

I didn't say that. I said they were stupid to believe him - and he lied more than any other politician I've known - like the wall paid for by Mexico.

You have to be terminally stupid to believe that. And yet they did.

I voted out too and I certainly wasn't conned, just sick and tired of the Brussels beaurocrats and their bullying autocratic attitude to both us and other member States, from immigration to the humiliation of Greece to the barely disguised contempt felt by these arrogant people towards this country. Can't wait to see the back of it!
