I remeber Blue Riblands, but if they are still on the shelves they would long be past their 'best before' date

OMG, me mind's gone bland ... no, blank at the number of bland responses. So much so that if I wanted to post anything about bland wines I shall have to start looking at the labels. :-0

So, off the booze I'll go - I don't mean forsaking it.

Anyone remember Blue Riblands? Are they still on the shelves?

:-D

You've raised an interesting point, Barbra.

Wine snobs will tell you that red wine must be brought 'to temperature' and allowed 'to breathe'

Nonsense!

I've found over the years that standing on a chair, or the table, and pouring wine from the bottle into the glass, leads the wine to absorb oxygen and therefore 'breathe'.

This has also had the side effect of causing numerous arguments with my OH over splashing of wine on the carpet :-|

Mind you, we also have the same arguments over my use of the toilet, although I must point out that I don't use a chair (or the table) for that purpose :-S

Back to the wine; living only two hours away from the major wine producing Region of Margaret River in WA I've also found that keeping several empty bottles with Margaret River wine labels and then filling them with cask wines, can seperate the men from the boys, or, the boozers from the connosiuers. :-P

Caroline

Caroline Report 29 Sep 2016 01:58

Sounds like a plan !
Boring part would be the bland group.....must make sure all possible answers are found.....
I think you'd also need to test different types of openers....

Allan

Allan Report 29 Sep 2016 00:39

I'd need to time myself, Caroline, preferably over the course of a couple of weeks; one week with corks and the other with screw-caps.

Other things would have to be equal e.g. type of grape, alcoholic strength, purchased from the same store etc.

Let the experiment commence! ;-) :-D :-D :-D

Caroline

Caroline Report 29 Sep 2016 00:30

Would you get drunker faster with a screw top wine bottle rather than a cork bottle...as you waste less time opening bottles.......

Allan

Allan Report 28 Sep 2016 22:30

The quantum mechanics of alcohol consumption. It really is too deep for most people, therefore I shan't bother to try to explain it :-0

Suffice it to say that the smaller the molecule the greater the affect on other small particles, particularly brain cells.

But as this is a bland thread there is no point in discussing any bland new hypotheses :-P :-P

:-D :-D :-D :-D
