CTV news quote Apkar Mirakian of the Armenian community/church who is in charge of resettling the refugees; quoting in writing and he's filmed saying it. |

If you goggle it more often than not Canadians say they're worried about the speed...it's one thing to promise something it can be another to deliver....even Government workers responsible for bringing them in have been quoted on the news stories saying it needed to slow down and then it did somewhat. |

I did quote CTV news they've run a number of stories along this line for over a week, can't help it if the truth is negative. |

Caroline, I don't know where you're getting all of your negative news from re: the refugees. You mention the "problem" that most Canadians have. I don't believe that most Canadians have a problem with it. I believe that, like me, they are very proud to be a part of it and see no problems. Of course there will be little problems along the way, it is a massive undertaking and can't be expected not to have problems. |

Just showing on the news here, a plane carrying refugees is due to arrive at Stansted airport this afternoon, and a family who arrived in Coventry 7 weeks ago via Iraq, where they fled when their two children were caught in a bombing, and they need further medical treatment for injuries, one child has lost her sight in one eye. |

Yes they were meant to be able to provide all expenses for a year (usually 10 yrs).....not sure how it has gone belly up already.....not able to get the money quick enough...assuming the government would help......money promised and not delivered...they haven't said they just admit they're already overwhelmed and they said that before the first plane load landed last week. |

Caroline, if they are sponsored did the Armenian church not have to have raised the money beforehand? That was the impression I got from articles? edit I realise that you are there and can probably see local news that doesn't make the major papers online eg http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/syrian-refugees-get-warm-welcome-at-armenian-community-centre-1.3361914 |

To be fair and not to cause angry amongst anyone.....the "problem" most Canadians have is the speed of the arrivals. They've had to delay some until next year (end of Feb) rather than end of this year, but still they're rushing them in. Yes I know they need to be safe but these are in the UN camps. Yesterday the next batch came into Toronto and they are mostly privately sponsored by the Armenhian church/council. They were admitting before the first batch came in last week they weren't ready, now they're ever worse off with lots more to come shortly. They have no where for them to live and no money to rent anywhere or pay hotel rooms. They admit themselves it is being done too fast in that respect. |

We can't really compare the UK with Canada. The UK have said they will bring over 20k within 5 years. That's less than 500 per month. |

To be fair old JC did refuse to sing the national anthem in church that time. He didn't want to swear allegiance to the queen. |
