I have got hold-ups but In this weather prefer thick tights or trousers with pop socks (knee highs as they seem to be called now).

Got a thick jumper out today with my trousers.

I've never worn tights for years, mind you - it's pop socks with trousers, and hold-ups with skirts :-D

Though the latter have been known to fall down in Sainsburys :-D :-D ;-) ;-)
