Cynthia - can FB be trusted not to give out your location - i know they did that a while ago - as well as a few other hidden items that you dont want the general public to see about you |

Lynda, before you lock up, have a look round and see if you can find the poppies ready for November. They had great difficulty finding them last year if I remember rightly. :-) |

Well Lynda, given the wide experience of life(off the boards) that you appear to have, I would think that 27 is a very young age, now I'm sure you don't tell porkies, more like "terminological inexactitudes" |

I have to agree with Lynda, the stickied threads linger too long. As she said the front page would be full if all stickied threads remained. |

Liz, some people come back after a year or two away, so does that mean you would leave your post for years? Surely if someone has been away for a long time, and they didn't know about a death, then that would mean they didn't keep in touch with anyone from GR, so they aren't close friends, and if a member does come back after a while away, they would ask where someone was surely? I flit in and out of GR, and when I returned this time, I was amazed to see the same threads stickied. |

~~~Hello Lynda~~~, probably not the same thing but I've never stopped being a member however I haven't looked in or posted in an eternity. Just trying to get back into the habit as I've got a long journey to work for a few months and think I should start doing my family tree again now that we've got the winter months and the dark nights :-) |
I haven't removed my thread about Elaine's death and I won't, because I have noticed that often people come back to the boards after a while away, and wouldn't see the sad news, as in the case of our Gwen. |
Cynthia, they have left the building, passed the key on to me, and waiting for me to turn the lights out :-D |
The stickied thread issue caused some problems a while ago. I did suggest at the time that we had an 'In memoriam' board, but nothing ever came of it. |
I rarely come on the boards these days just because I seem to be so busy. However, when I do come on I don't comment on the general chat as I can't always keep track of the threads., so my isolated comments could be overlooked, or commented on and I would never know . I used to enjoy the banter when I first joined lots of friendly chat., not so much of that lately in my opinion. |
It's been really interesting reading these replies, the different reasons why you don't post. |
I have been a member for a month longer than Bob, but if you look at the number of posts we have made you will see I don't really have have too much to say for myself, although I do often snarl at the laptop when I read something, or type and delete on other occasions. |
Tabitha - we have lost the art of having fun. And we scare too easily about many things - some important matters & others not. |
I've been here almost a long as Lynda, and the site isn't a shadow of what it used to be. |
