Watched it last night at last on ipad, really enjoyed his story. I think what made it for me was he is such a likeable person and was so into everything he discovered.

Wonder what tonight will bring :-D :-D :-D

Same here I have just watched it as I had it recorded. I disliked the first two programmes but this one was fascinating

I was really fascinated by Derek Jacobi's story - that's more like it :-D

I agree, I thought Derek Jacobi's story was the best of the current series so far.

Disappointed that Jane Seymour did not go down her direct ancestors' line. Interesting though her 'sidelines' (for want of a better word) were, why did we not go straight down from JS? Were their backgrounds different from the more recent ancestors or were they too hard to find?

I get the feeling that either the research budget has been cut or that the 'star' is directing rather than the director.

Waiting to see the Jerry Hall programme now and I may turn off this series if the direction seems to be going the same way as the PH and JS programmes.

I have just watched last week's Jane Seymour episode from the recording box.

I actually enjoyed it, although it was very sad.

Like you, I was expecting them to produce some of Jane's Cousins at the end, and so it felt flat!

But as you've all said, it's not like "Who Do You Think You Are?" any more!
I would like it to return to the original format.

I have recorded tonight's Derek Jacobi one.

Tonight's episode looks as though it will be
very interesting.

It did have a few interesting bits - didn't realise normal people managed to escape

Shame they didn't show her in the cemetery meeting her relative - it was on the unseen footage - it looked really good

Always liked her as an actress

Well, I enjoyed it very much and was glad she only said one *wow* throughout the programme!

I was very interested in the programme has I was under her father when I was excepting my daughter in the 70s very nice man although I did not know he had a famous daughter, if I was on the programme I would want spend the whole time trying to find out more about my day Canadian grandmother and why after g granddad died the family broke up and only four out of the twelve where left something in her will. When I got in touch with one of my dads cousins he did not know he had any uncles just aunts. Family secrets are not good.

I only watched the start of the programme .but lost interest .I have said since the last series .its not delving into branches of trees .both sides of family. maybe cost cutting .she had a beautiful home & looked well for an older woman ? :-D hope next week is more interesting :-)

Actor Derek Jacobi.........
..........grew up in Walthamstow, where his parents ran a market stall. But a clue in his mother's family tree hints at a more colourful past - his great-grandmother's name was Salome Laplain. Armed with this tantalising detail, Derek discovers that, far from being from humble roots as he had thought, he is in fact descended from a wealthy French Huguenot fleeing religious persecution in France - who had connections to Protestant royalty on this side of the channel.

Definitely not the fascinating programme on genealogy that it was. It can only get better :-(

Interesting, but still 'living history'.

We were hoping they'd produce either the 'Swiss' cousins or their descendents. Might her family have kept up contact?

The themes are well done as long as we look on the programmes as 20th C social history documentaries, as LG suggests.

I don't like this new series at all. I agree with Joan completely it has now become a documentary.
