Yes she did Belle, as her father used to talk a lot about stories from Tehran that his father had spoken of. But she obviously did not have the photo.

She also said that she had been on holiday in Tasmania some years ago, and when she came back she visited her parents with photos of a place there called Lyne Bay, to be told that apparently, her father's father (in the photo) 's cousin ... so obviously also my Grandfather's cousin ......was the Governor General there.

I have googled, and I do not know how he can possibly fit into the family, so I'm hoping it's not going to be one of those false family stories! But possibly a distant cousin.

I will have to do lots of research I think :-)

Who amongst us would be prepared to spend 12 hours standing in the cold & rain outside a maternity ward - apart from when our own children were due perhaps?

Mind you, there are numerous complaints from patients being kept waiting on trolleys in wind-swept corridors for long periods too.

When I joined GR, there were 2 main legends I wanted to find out about.

The Shah of Persia story from my mother's side, and the Jemima Nicholas connection on my father's side.

I'd put off doing it for years, as I was scared it would turn out to be just that- only legends, with no basis in fact. Plus I didn't have the computer skills then, or even a computer come to that :-D :-D :-D :-D

I must admit that the sites and extensive records/documents that can be viewed online now are really good compared with when I first started.....then it was more a matter of going to the Record Offices to view the records :-0 :-0
