Talking about behind.........

I was just thinking how much easier life would be in the zips on onesies, started at the top and went all the way round the back.

Such a palava when you want to spend a penny.

Prickles.........as snug as a bug in a rug.

Aaaaaaah. Evening Prickles, just got back. Been out for a meal and I'm very full.

See they've mended the board, it went very odd. Wasn't anything to do with you was it.

Jem we all believe it's based in truth, it's just which generation moved. My father believed it was my gt gt grandfather Joseph as a boy/young man but he was born Dudley abt 1814. One of Joseph's sons moved to Manchester, the family there believe it was the turn of the 1800s, but gt gt gt grandfather John born Dudley 1780s. The one's who went to Durham in the 1870s think it was Joseph's youngest brother as a young man so putting it about 1850. Based in truth just distorted over the years. I think they may be 100 years or 3/4 generations out.

Unfortunately I can't go to the parish records from here. Perhaps 1 of the others will get the breakthrough.

Still it's fun finding out. :-)

Afternoon Sue. :-D :-D

There probably is a degree of truth in there somewhere Pat, but obviously not what they thought!

We are connected to David Lloyd George, but I can't find out how! It's not through descent. My Great Grandmother used to tell my Great Aunt when she was a little girl, that she was not to tell anyone that he was a relative, because he was an "IMMORAL MAN!" :-D :-D :-D

It would be through his father's side because of the Pembrokeshire link, but they moved to Manchester before Census' I believe (Speaking off the top of my head) Apparently it is a very difficult tree to trace.

I have found a connection to a Lloyd family though, so possibly it was through LLOYD not GEORGE :-S :-S :-S

PatinCyprus Report 19 Jan 2015 12:49

I had noted that before Jem when you were on the boards. You had it under researching.

My maiden name was Lloyd and having linked up with several distant cousins, due to tree research, we all have the same story handed down. We are of Welsh stock - miners from the valleys - who followed the work and ended up in Dudley in the mines there. My family told this story with the move from Wales 1820-30s others later than that, a few a little earlier.

Well I'm back to the 1780s and still born in Dudley. :-S

I find anything to do with genealogy fascinating Pat! :-)
If you find someone famous, then that's just the icing on the cake! I love looking into all my rellies' lives :-)

My best claim to fame is the Welsh Heroine of "The Last Invasion Of Britain" in Pembrokeshire 1797 - my 5x Great Aunt, Jemima Nicholas :-)

The only person of any fame I'm related to is a Division 1 footballer from the early 1900s. :-(

It is interesting finding someone of fame as they are written about or have portraits/photos of them.

My aunt spent most of her life believing there was lots of money in her paternal family. A great uncle of her's, as he left their house, would say he was off to his castle. Poor aunt, my mum (an older sister) told her the man didn't even own a car. She only understood it when I said "an Englishman's home is his castle". It only took her 70 years to realise the truth. :-S
