It does seem a pity, when in previous years there HAS been a poppy, that this year in particular, when so many are commemorating the centenary of the beginning of WW1, GR did not apparently consider that its members might expect at least the same as last year, if not something more. |

After reading Shelley's post, my reaction was like most - annoyance, especially in this the centenary year of the WW1 war. |

Does it really matter that much - do a few pixels on a website denote 'respect'? :-S |

Rollo and Budgie are right - the techies have left the building and any attempt at a change by 'the team'(?) would mess up the site. |

I wonder if Google will support it? They did away with mentioning Christmas last year. |

There was a bit of an uproar on FB when somebody claimed that an 89 year old war veteran was told to stand outside of the local supermarket in the cold, rather than in the warm foyer where they usually collect for the annual poppy appeal. |

Remberance day in 2018 will be on the 11th. The 100th anniversary of the Armistice will be on a Sunday. :-) |

Remembrance day is on the 9th of November this year ;-) It's on the Sunday closest to Armitice Day (which is on the 11th). |
