Thank you, Mau, for passing on this very sad news.

Rest in peace, dear Buttercup Fields, a dear, kind, honest and funny lady.

My condolences to BC's family.

"I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done."

There are and will be many happy memories.

I met Maureen at the London Meet.

A beautifully turned out, smart, sassy lady. A real diamond.

What a shock, I knew she was ill, but had no idea how ill.

I am very sorry to hear this.

RIP

I am so sad to hear about BC passing away.

I didn't know her very well, but she posted on my Six Nations Rugby Thread earlier this year and said some lovely things about the thread to me. I was so chuffed!

I'm sorry I didn't get to know her better

RIP ButtercupFields <3

These condolences are testament to how beautiful a person and how well respected BC was.

I emailed GR team this morning requesting that this thread be 'stickied' and, with everyone's wishes,I will send on to her son.

Message from TW
Although many many people were friendly with BC, myself and Hayley had a special bond with her, and though I have been occupied with my own troubles BC was never far from my thoughts throughout her long illness.
My abiding memories of her are her gift to me, her warm smile, her wicked sense of humour, her quick wit, and her uncanny ability to see through ‘brave faces’ and ‘cheerful fronts’ and get to the roots of a person’s troubles. She was charismatic, kind, generous, warm and beautiful both inside and out. Rare indeed, and thetwo people I have ever known to have those qualities are both gone from us now.
I still chuckle, even on a sad day like today, at the first time I met her, at Peterborough train station. It was football day too, so the station was full of police, and as we passed a dozen or so of them, BC said in a loud voice, ‘now don’t you worry about me, cos I LEFT THE WEED ON THE TRAIN’. And proceeded to look like an innocent little old lady while Hayley and I looked to the ground. How we didn’t get arrested is beyond me.
She also cooked the best roast lamb dinner you ever had. RIP BC, thank you for the fun, and the happy memories.
