An article in our local paper last week might be of interest to some people who have ancestors from Wisbech, Cambs & surrounding areas. Articles printed in Wisbech Standard during the war are being placed into an index, so people can look up information about the conflict including family members who fought. The index will allow people to find articles relating to local soldiers & common subjects such as hospitals & refugees. It says you can access the Wisbech Standard as well as the British Newspaper Archive free at local libraries. Also says, local men were enlisted & their names,as well as places & events are well documented in the 1st W.W. articles in the Wisbech Standard. Also, if you Google, Great War Between The Lines there is quite alot of info & pictures on the Cambridgeshire Community Archive Network.
Hope this is of interest to some people as most W.W.1 files were burnt.
Hilary.
