The Big Blister knocked on the Window seven times

Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock,

Back came the response;

Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock. (Pause) knock.

The Big Blister flew out of the Chair

"Someone's given the wrong knocks!" he screamed "it should only be seven and that was eight and one. That's not in the Ritual. Go and find out what's going on"

"Let the Little Blister come forth,!" commanded the Big Blister.

( And, please, no heckling from the sidelines that he came fifth and won a chocolate teapot :-|)

The Little Blister took its place in the centre of the room.

"What be the Society Time?" asked the Big Blister

The Little Blister consulted a watch and nervously replied "seven thirty"

"Oh for Heaven's sake! Will one of the more experienced Blisters help him with the Ritual"

One of the older members went and stood next to the Little Blister, carefully avoiding the puddle that was forming at his feet.

Whisper, whisper, whisper

"It be High Noon, Big Blister!"

The Big Blister's smile was now more benevolent than malevolent

"But RR's Societies usually meet in the evenings. How can this be so?"

Now the Little Blister was totally confused. The puddle grew larger

Whisper, whisper, whisper

'Err, RR's Societies being spread over the five quarters of the Globe ..."

Whisper, whisper, whisper

"Over the four quarters of the Globe"

Whisper, whisper, whisper

"It follows that it must be High Noon somewhere with respect to us RR's'

"Close enough!' boomed the Big Blister "I declare this Hall open for the discharge of RR business. Be seated Little Blister

Little Blister made his way, damply, back to his seat

And who are the undercover agents that have infiltrated this Secret Society? ;-) ;-)

Unless Mr Stephens is a member, he shouldn't be on the premises.

But that is the inherent problem with Secret Societies; who ARE the members? :-S

I wonder if Mr Stephens will be doing lunch today.. he was not pleased with the way Darth Vader left them yesterday.

This is thread is turning into an actual Secret Society meeting, from what I've been told :-S :-S

All having now registered, the Big Blister intoned'

"Blisters, assist me to open this Hall!"

A murmur from the back of the room suggested that it was already open otherwise no one would be inside.

The Big Blister glared in the general direction of the sound.

Now, from what I've been told, the formal opening of a Secret Society Hall requires the interrogation of various members to see that all is aright.

This particular Secret Society (the Society of RR's) is no different, except that only one member is interrogated, usually the most junior one, known as the Little Blister.

The Little Blister is also, usually, the newest member and is there to learn the craft. In this respect this person could be likened to an apprentice.

Ah well, Persie, I suppose when oi met yu yu wuz just acting unladylike becoz of the cumpnee you wuz in. Oi aint no loidy.

Scheherazade's place was where we went for Arabian coffee...I did not like the look of her partner, and Zeus was not too happy for any of us to be friends with her.


Phew.. got the two of them mixed up, that will teach me for doing my history without looking it up.

I wonder if Scheherazade had this problem with interruptions?

Probably, as the first edition of the book was going to be called 500.5 nights :-|
