It sounds quite sensible talking to the Funeral Director - you can arrange how 'you' want things rather than put your head in the sand as many ageing people with no major health issues do. A friend's father picked out his own plot in the church yard which rather unsettled the church warden! :-D |

Michael, I am glad your doctor was better to you and more helpful and hope the new medication helps you get some much needed rest. I think you are getting everything in order and will find the MacMillan people helpful in sorting out anything you can't deal with on your own. |

Sounds like you have a doctor with a conscience and that's pretty rare these days but he will surely look after your medical needs and that's one less worry for you. |

Michael, good to hear the doctor apologised this morning and gave you his phone number. The macmillan nurse will be able to help with the things you need. I had a couple of hand rails put in very quickly. <3 <3 |

I had a surprise phone call this morning from the doctor who was not very help full to me to say he was sorry. at the way he spoke, I thought you prob did not get any the night before lol. any way he listened to what I wanted even let me have sleeping tablets which they don't like to give also his exstentsion number to bypass the resecption so a good result all round. even faxed the prescription to chemist for me, I am going to phone the macmillan people in the morning to try to get some one to visit me for a chat about a few needs in the home I/e handrails in bathroom and any thing else I may need. so I feel a bit better now with the way things are going. only one final thing to do is visit the undertaker to sort things out to try and leave less for the wife to worry about. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) |

Hello Michael I hope that you can get the McMillan Nurses sorted out very soon. I can speak from personal experience that they do a wonderful job with all aspects of your care. Please speak to your your GPs surgery the receptionist staff need to be made aware of your condition and understand your medical needs. I hope your prescribed medication will help with your pain relief. |

I am waiting for McMillian nurses to get in touch they have been notified but what with Christmas and new year they are proberly very busy with catch up. I know that they will when able. it seem to me that when doctors turn there surgurys in to health centres that's when the probs start not got a lot of time as the practice get bigger. :-) :-) |

Michael - is your Lung Specialist Nurse also a McMillan Nurse? If not, ask to be referred to one. You might even be able to self-refer if you look up the local number and give them a ring. |

Michael you should not have to wait to see any doctor in your situation. Tell the receptionist that you need to speak to , or see a doctor and that doctor should see you any time. Maybe I was lucky with being in a village . If ever I rang and was told there were no appointments, I told them my name and got one. Macmillan nurses will help you and as Liz said above, they may be able to help with a payment towards travelling costs. Do ask them what help is available to make things easier and less stressful for you. Take care. <3 <3 |
