I too have been following "the Michael thread", and been looking in this week hoping for latest news but none forthcoming so Michael I'm sending my best wishes to you :-)

Sad news - I have just had a call from Michael's step daughter to let me know that Michael passed away on 18th May. Apparently he was suddenly much worse and had to go into hospital. I didn't like to ask too many details but she and her Mum, Michael's wife Paula, were glad that I had written. It had been arranged that Michael's son would let people know and they thought he had done so.

Paula hadn't had her op but is now preparing to go ahead with it. They will stay in touch with me and I have let them know how to access the boards in the hope they can read all the posts on the thread and know how many people cared about Michael and his family.

Rest in peace now Michael, you were a brave man and faced the future with courage, trying only to save your family too many problems to cope with at a time of loss and spending as much time as you could with those you loved and cared about.

R.I.P. Michael <3 you are now free from pain, you put up a good fight and while doing so showed great courage and determination, my thoughts and prayers go out to those you loved so much - your wife Paula and your family <3

I am researching the Wotherspoon family from the Old/New Monkland areas of Scotland, some moved to the Leslie and Kelty areas of Fife and I'm having problems linking the Wotherspoon's from Leslie and the Wotherspoon's from Kelty. I am also researching the Clusker family from Co. Meath in Ireland who moved to West Lothian and from there to Fife............"Vita non est vivere sed valere vita est"

What a brave man he was facing his horrible illness by discussing it on here. RIP Michael and condolences to Paula his wife and to his family. We were privileged to travel the last weeks of your journey with you Michael. You will be remembered on GR by your friends. <3

God bless you Michael and I hope that your family are just a little comforted knowing that you are free from pain.

It will take a long, long time for family to comes to terms with the loss of Michael. To them I say think of all the good memories you have and of the good times you all shared together

Matthew and Jane Elwood who had my great great grandfather Francis Edward Elwood baptised in 1807 at Horsham Sussex. There is no sign of Matthew or Jane from this date and my great great grandfather was brought up as Francis Edward Elwood MITCHELL
