Dear All

Hello

Today, marks Worlds Aids Day.

The first one was held in 1988, 25 years ago at the height of publicity and
extremely unpleasant behaviour to those with the illness.

I remember the panic and the myths in the media about AIDS and
how sufferers were denied work, insurance and harrassed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the UK, there are 100,000 living with HIV.

An estimated 34 million people have HIV.

More than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007 have died from the virus, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now in 2013, World AIDS Day is important as it reminds the public and world governments that HIV has not gone away.

There is a vital need to raise money, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education.

There has been a vast improvement in the medicines for treating AIDS.

However, people still are not getting the treatment needed and this is especially true in third world countries.

<3 This post is dedicated to those living with the illness. <3

Take gentle care
Sincere wishes
