Agree with Jem, Maggie Smith at her best.

Hope Bates thinks twice before doing anything
drastic, a good beating up would be fine :-D

Emma :-)

Are you sure this series takes us up to WW2 DC?

That's a lot of years, seeing as it started in 1922...they don't normally do more than 2 or 3 years in a season...would mean killing off half the cast to old age...once Maggie Smith has gone it won't be the same anyway

Yes it was a good episode, lots in it. Just for one moment there Lady Mary had a genuinely warm smile on her face and seemed to 'sparkle' when (can't remember his name offhand) returned to see them.

This run could be the last as it takes us up to WW2, and Julian Fellowes has said that it could become problematical to take/bring it on during and after WW2.

So we will have to wait and see.

Lady Mary, is just so rigid. Looks like Edith is preggers!!! And her man is is trouble in Germany!!

Hello Everyone :-D

Excellent episode last night I thought! :-)

Maggie Smith in fine form as the Dowager Lady Grantham. She had some wonderful lines-
To Isabel Crawley on her plea to give the Gardener Boy a job-
"Do You Know, I wonder your halo doesn't grow heavy- It must be like wearing a tiara around the clock!" Priceless! :-D

In reply to Isabel Crawley's gratitude-
"Your gratitude never seems to last- no sooner than I've said yes- then you come back with another request!" :-D

May she grace Downton Abbey with her wit forever- They'd better not kill her off :-|
