I spoke with Sheila again earlier after she had phoned Jan. The stroke happened at 3 am this morning and the hospital told Jan Joyce probably only had a short time to live. She is semiconscious and mumbling but no one can make out the words, and she is not responding to anyone talking to her, even Jan telling her the messages from people. The hospital have now said that the next couple of days are crucial so we will have to hope Joyce's fighting spirit helps her through.

I will not hear further from Sheila until Sat. pm, unless the news changes drastically so will do my best to keep you all updated as best I can.

Come on Joyce, show those Dutch doctors what a Liverpudlian lass can do!

I have had problems staying on the computer recently - keeps freezing and logging me out of aol so I hope I will be able to keep updates coming.

Have been thinking of Joyce and Jan, and hope she had a good night and Jan was able to get some sleep. Maybe today will bring better news - fingers crossed. Thanks for pms and for all the lovely posts on here, hope Jan has had time to read them and can tell Joyce who is thinking of her.

What great sentiments LES, it is nice to think of GR members as "family" and we all need family and friends in time of trouble to help and encourage us along.

Liz is very good at this, so very many thanks for keeping us all updated.
