FGS - it was meant to be a fun thread - as a Welsh person I found it hilarious, but as usual, it's all about you you you

I do respect that very much, Sylvia. But I beg to disagree. I think there is ample evidence and history that this was not meant to be a fun thread.

I have said what I think to Genes and others may have written to support Errol. I don't know. But I have got upset enough to report - and I do that rarely

John

I think you are wrong, wrong, wrong.

I saw this thread yesterday, thought it funny, showed OH and he thought it was funny .........

AND the first language he spoke was WELSH, as he was raised during the war by his Welsh-speaking grandmother.

I believe that Errol started this in good faith, as a bit of fun ......................... and that you owe him one huge apology for reporting the OP, and for spoiling the thread.

What are you, Andrew? What team do you play for? What flag do you wave? Because sure as sugar some posters on here will say you're waving the wrong one :-D

so, Andrew ..

just another crazy mixed-up Brit???? :-D

I maintain all Brits (ncluding myself!) are "mongrels", not pure-breds!

I was born in England to a Scottish mother and have a father of unknown pedigree. My adoptive parents where both English but my adoptive father had a Welsh mother and an Irish grandmother, who was previously married to a German. And on my mothers side a distant ancestor was born in Indiah.

Wend. The reason why I went off on one is that I suspected it was a deliberate atempt to bait me. I may have got it all totally wrong. Perhaps it was a fun thread and the OP is as innocent and funny as his avatar.

I did ignore thread for quite a time. Then I tried to play along with it, and increasingly got picked on. And then reported (usual ploy - different reporters each time, always reinstated). So decided to report OP and call his bluff.

How do you know I wear Y fronts? Not easy to get these days :-( For old men only.

and getting back to the opening post, lots of signs are wrongly translated here in north wales, its rather funny to see one on a long early morning drive to work, hubby who a welsh speaker finds them hilarious. :-D

Just popped back in from my cabbage patch for the final time, now light has stopped play. I've been looking in on this thread every so often and it has been hilarious. I cannot understand why John has got his Y-fronts in such a twist, but John is John is John is John, et cetera et cetera. . . Who knows? :-S

Thanks for the laughs - a tonic! :-D

OH's mother was Welsh, both her parents and all her ancestors were Welsh.

They lived in Chester when OH was born, but he was actually born in a nursing home in a village just outside Chester, and on the Welsh side of the border. He also went to school from 13 to 19 in North Wales

So I reckon he is Welsh because he was born there, and half-Welsh because his father was English!

Interestingly, as British immigrants to Canada, and now Canadian citizens ..................... we are still considered British by the British Immigration people.

Our Canadian-born daughter could very easily get a visa to work in the UK, as she has 2 British-born parents, and all her grandparents were British born (including Wales in Britain for the purpose of this).

Even her Canadian-born children, born of 2 Canadian-born parents, could possibly get easier entrance to work in the UK as they have 2 British-born grandparents.
