Hello, GP - well, you can still afford one of those half price bottles of wine! :-D ;-)

Don't blame you for giving up driving - public transport is so good on Tyneside. Non existent here - most people have a car each! :-D

Good afternoon Everyone and a big thankyou to Ann for starting the thread off this morning.
I've just arrived back from the Doctors and the heavens have opened. It's absolutely pouring down and the local radio has warned of thunder and lightning later.
I passed my test in 1966 when we used hand signals. Everything was done by hand in those days. I only had one warning from the police and that was for speeding through the newly opened Tyne Tunnel. I gave up driving in the 1980's.
GinN - I didn't win the jackpot last night but I won £10 on the lottery so the drinks are not quite on me just yet.

Barb - I felt a bit bad about it, really, he was a nice bloke! But, as a (then) junior assistant, I couldn't not charge him! ;-)

I do get about on me Besom nowadays no tax or insurance and no highway code but it was along time ago before I turned into an old witch. ;-)

Hactually it was a VW saloon thinggy. Not a Beetle. My dad ran a driving school and had the plates and name of the school on show. Even the copper was unimpressed.

GiN I can imagine the bobbies face seeing you in the library :-D :-D

Hi, Barb, Susan and Merlin! :-D :-D :-D

Barb - never been caught for speeding, but did have a prang a couple of weeks after passing my test. Policeman who dealt with it was pleasant enough, but did warn me that I might be had up for dangerous driving. Fortunately, it never happened, but imagine my delight when he came into the library where I worked, and I had the pleasure of charging him a very large fine on his overdue books - and, no, I didn't let him off (more than my jobsworth)! :-D ;-)

Thanks for the advice, Merlin. Engineer is returning later in the week, so will see what happens. :-)

Afternoon Barb Sue and Merls,

Well Barb I thought I would have to take the liberty of starting the thread as I thought you were all having a lay in :-D :-D

Plus the fact that we would have one sulky Liverpool lass on our case :-D

I can just see you speeding along in your little soft top Ford in your Mary Quant frock with your Bouffant flying in the breeze :-D :-D

Now where is that pesky Errol??? ;-)

Cooooeeee it's only me.

Well done Ann, starting the day off for us all.

A bit blowy here at the moment.

I think it was 1962, ah yes I remember it well. Hadn't passed my test long and was caught doing 45 in a 30 limit on a very quiet Sunday morning. I was find £7 pounds 10 shillings.

My dad who's car it was gave me a long lecture and I haven't exceeded the speed limit since. Well I haven't been caught ;-)

Ann - it never rains but it pours! :-D - in more ways than one.................

Engineer has just arrived to look at our new hob which seems to have developed a fault. Which is the one guarantee we can't find?.................. :-|

Good morning Paula...hope all goes well with your BIL <3

GN.....I think if we are honest most of us have done the same thing. The problem is with young and new drivers the insurance hammers you. My son a few years ago did the same thing and had points on his license.....he was unaware he had to inform his insurance till he came to renew and they upped the premium!

I have just been to fill up the car for Birmingham tomorrow and whilst out it poured down on my washing!!!!! :-(

GinN

GinN Report 12 Aug 2013 12:41

Hello, Paula - glad to hear that things are staying positive. :-)

Emma - it sounds like you've had a lovely family day! I can just imagine you all in your wee "but and ben"! :-D :-D

Everything back to normal after visits from
family. House smells like a flower shop and
OH and myself happily exhausted singing and playing
with great grandies. The joy sharing happy special days
with the family are wonderful. :-D :-D

Emma :-)
