Hope so Scozz, and don't touch coffee, you will never sleep, and you will be all jittery, unless you have decaff. Do you have any porridge oats, they help keep you calm and you can buy oat milk as well which is nice and calming.

Take care and hope things get better day by day

I'm feeling a bit fuzzy in the head, because I got about 1 hour sleep last night!

I last looked at the clock at 5.48am...... and the alarm went off at 7.00am :-(

OH was lying in the hospital bed, morphine up to the eyeballs, he took one look at me and KNEW I hadn't had much sleep! My eyes change colour... when I'm tired or not well, they go bright green. He looked at me and said "you didn't sleep last night"!!

I might wander off to bed in a couple of hours with a book & a cup of something (better not make it coffee :-0.... I'm considering port :-D ). I can't go to sleep, because I'm expecting a few 'phone calls.

If I have port my eyes won't be green tomorrow :-D

We can hardly wait for the end of August. Our run of rotten luck started in September last year.... surely it's time to stop?

:-)

Hi Scozz, oh poor you, and poor hubby, what a dreadful time you have had, as if you haven't already been through enough!

I am so glad you have people rallying round you and someone to give you a hug, here are several from me (((( )))) Try and stay busy and positive and get as much rest as you can, I know it's hard but find a book to read and lose yourself into while you drift off to sleep if possible.

Will be thinking lots of positive thoughts for you both and hope your hubby will be home as soon as possible and feeling lots better. Shame about the golf but his health is more important.

love and hugs

That is good, betcha you are heaving a sigh of relief.. does crappy hospital have a patient survey form or a suggestion form that you can complete.

Of course you could complain to your MP and in the papers.. people love a rant and rave here.

Glad everything sorted... :-) :-) :-) Perse

Saw him this morning <3 I think he was dancing with the morphine pixies

He still has some pain, but nothing like he had last night.

He had an MRI (not a CT) this morning, it didn't show up anything else unusual, but the specialist thinks there are two foreign bodies, one in a bronchial tube & the other in a lung. We think it's the chicken bone/gristle. The bronchoscopy is tomorrow afternoon. The specialist came to see OH when I was there, and explained everything to both of us.

All the staff at this hospital have been wonderful, such a difference to our local place (I'm not calling it a hospital any more, it's a sad & sorry place). Small examples.... they had to shave some of OH's chest and the razor was blunt! OH asked for some water just before he got in the 2nd ambulance...... the "nurse" (I use the term loosely) said he would get a drink at the next hospital, because she couldn't be bothered going back to the kitchen!!! What a b!tch!!!!!!!!!!

The specialist wants him to stay in hospital until at least Sunday. I really miss him, it's horrible rattling around in this big house by myself, but he's in the best place, and is now forced to rest, instead of running around like he usually does.

I've been overwhelmed by our friends here, everyone is offering to take me up to the hospital, at whatever time I want.

Again, thankyou all for your kind words <3

I cannot believe that the Australian health system put you through such anguish Scozz... what about your mental health for goodness sake. And as for not allowing you in the ambulance that beggars belief.

I am always impressed with the Australian hospital programmes I see here on the hospitals in Sydney and Melbourne.

Yes Mr M.. there is often a funny side but sheer hell at the time. ...even here in little ole NZ we is allowed to travel with patient if we want and system is such that they keep you informed. You are allowed to read your patient notes etc as well.

I wish him and you all the best Catherine... Take care Persie.

Morning all <3 It's 7.45am here.

Thankyou all for your concern and good wishes, very much appreciated.

The hospital OH is in is not the one he was taken to last night. He's in a large hospital in Queensland, our local hospital is very small with only one doctor on duty at night (so I believe).

He's asked for his wallet, so I will take it and bring it home, I will see the admin people and settle the account. Not sure about taking his 'phone as most hospitals don't allow you to use them.

I forgot about this, OH will get a giggle (can't make him laugh too much, cos it hurts)......... when the admin person from our local hospital called last night, she asked if OH had Torrens Strait or Aboriginal blood!!! He's very dark, but that's from years of sun :-D I told her to look at his backside, because that's white. Funny thing is, we have Aboriginal friends, and the guys call OH "brother" :-D... they will certainly get a laugh about this.

Must go, sitting here with wet hair, am being collected in just over an hour.

Scozz

so sorry to hear this

I cannot believe that you were not allowed to go in the ambulance .................. did you tell them that you were unable to get to the hospital yourself?

I cannot believe that your hospitals are so far behind the times as to not allow a spouse to speak to a nurse on the ward or a doctor.

That most certainly is not the case here!

Go, but do not TELL them you are going, and do NOT ASK them if you may see your husband.

Take him some clean jimjams, a $5 note and some change, specs, a wash bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and deodorant (if he uses it), and some reading matter ................... but nothing else valuable!

Do NOT take his wallet, credit cards, iphone, tablet, laptop, watch, etc. Even think twice about taking in an electric razor.

Take his medical cards with you, in case they want to see them. Have your credit cards with you, or your cheque book, or cash.

Our hospitals actually tell you all this ................. there are very nasty people around who steal stuff from patients, even ripping rings off their fingers.

There are no safe places to keep valuables, so it is better not to have anything.

Meanwhile .................. take care of yourself xxxxx

So sorry to hear about your OH and the problems you are having with the hospital.
I wouldn't tell them you intend to visit they can hardly refuse you a visit.

Have you got a good relationship with your family GP, perhaps a call to them may give you some reassurances if they know how concerned and out of the loop you are feeling?

Thinking about you both and wishing you all the best
