Lesley ...................

perhaps people were too polite to ask someone who did not know the tradition

maybe you also went in summer when there is much less mud and dirt around

maybe, just maybe, you came to the city where I live??

I do tend to say to people from other countries "Please leave your shoes on"

Then of course, it backfires on me .................... OH had to re-clean the hall carpet last week after having had an English visitor the previous week.

It was only 3 weeks since it had been professionally cleaned.

we were not happy bunnies!

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Jul 2013 22:30

eRRol .........

Maybe I am very unusual then

Sylvia IS my name, or one of them

and I do live in Canada

I was once plain "Sylvia", back when I first joined

But there was another Sylvia who had somewhat of a nasty reputation. Within a week, I was tired of being accused that I was her

so I changed my name to "Sylvia In Canada", to distinguish myself form her

then GR, in one of its updates, made it impossible to have spaces in your Baord name, so I became "SylviaInCanada"

I have seen no need to change my name deliberately, apart form the addition of the geographical name.

BTW ........ that other one is no longer on the site, has not been for many years .......... or else she has changed her name, and possibly her reputation :-D

Names are unimportant and not real - be they CupCakes, NanaSue, something or other Lamido, Pinnochio, Walter Mitty, Errol or whatever fictitious name one chooses to use on any one given day.

(a little unknown secret - I am not really a sheep although it was evilly and maliciously suggested that I should be a halal goat - very insulting if I didn't find it completely risible, juvenile and pathetic)

But, as the very sage Sylvia has said, the problem lies when people deny that a certain previous name was ever them in the first place. That is what causes contention and argument.

Oh, CupCakes

it is perfectly possible to see and check membership numbers.

It has been since the day I joined GR back in 2004 .......................
