Haggis Recipe

Haggis was traditionally made out of cheap or left over ingredients to make a tasty filling meal.

Be warned that if you are squeamish the haggis recipe below isn't for the faint-hearted ;-)

Cook your own haggis neeps and tatties with this delicious traditional recipe ingredients and instructions which includes a vegetarian alternative with the history of this favourite Scottish dish:

Got no Scots in my tree, but my parents had a holiday chalet at Kippford in Dumfries and Galloway. We had many holidays there, although it always seemed to rain when I took my family!
Mam and Dad were looking to settle in Dalbeatie when Dad retired, but his health deteriorated, so it wasn't to be.

Potty Report 8 Jul 2013 12:17

Not a Scot but live there and love it.

Rollo, travelling around Scotland boring!! Slow maybe because the scenery is so lovely you have to drive slowly to enjoy it. Have you ever driven through Glencoe or or across to Glenelg and then taken the ferry to Kylerhea on Skye and on to Portree? That very must be the least boring in the world - just watching the skipper's dog is worth the fare. And if anyone can call the road to Applecross boring, well they need there heads testing!

No midges today - the sun is too bright.

No thanks Rollo.

We English have no need to blow our own trumpets.

Rollo ~ some of your ancestors may have killed some of my ancestors at the battle of Flodden.

James IV is my 1st cousin 17 times removed. He died 9 September 1513. Probably killed by an Englishman charging with a bill.

Just short of 500 years ago ( Sep 1513 ) one of my ancestors was leading his men under the command of the Duke of Norfolk at a place called Branxton in Northumbria. His foot soldiers were armed with a very big stick called a bill.

This encounter at Branxton is often referred to as the Battle of Flodden. There is a song of sorts associated with it lamenting the death of James IV on the battlefield.
"Flowers of the Forest".

Though for myself a few choruses of "Lily Bollero" sounds better.

Harrogate is boring.
Scotland is even more boring with the exception of a few parts of Lanarkshire and Edinburgh which are dangerous instead. Rebus will confirm that.
Scotland is the summer planet capital of midges.
Getting around Scotland without a helicopter is slow and tedious - and boring.
If Scotland disappeared few people south of the border would notice. If at has already disappeared I stand corrected.
The national music (?) has been borrowed from Northumbria and sounds like a goat in labour.
What on earth would anybody put in a thread about Scotland ? Marmalade ?
So there isn't one.
I did notice Alex Salmond whipping out his saltire at centre court. The cameras quickly panned away fearful of what else he might whip out.
