We used to get Plain Bread here (North East England) but for some reason the Supermarket (Morrisons)stopped importing it. Now family from Edinburgh bring it down for me together with well fired rolls, haggis neeps and tatties and Tunnocks plain caramel wafers and Tunnocks caramel logs.

Well my best pal is from Inverness and sings Ma Heeland Granny's Hame or summat but only when she has several Vodka shots and a bottle of red. I also knew a man called Jock Dixon and a butcher from Glasgow called John Cameron married my aunty. So...there!! Can I join please. I can sing like a birrrrrrd! :-D :-D :-D

ps....I also have a ginger tache. :-D

Been like it for years, same as Union Street, was a thriving
shopping area, now lots of the shops closed, trade killed by
new shopping Malls.
At least we have plenty beaches, forests and country side.

Such a shame that the council there has no pride in their city and would want it looking good. :-(

I agree George, but to get our council here to spend
money to clean the granite would take a miracle.
Even HRH mentioned it a few years ago but nothing
was done.

I will say one thing for Scotland, had the best fish ever at a place called Anstruther .

Up there in Fife with Foggs as he was researching his ancestors, cracking place.
didn't think much of Edinburgh or Aberdeen, would have been a lot nicer if they were to spend some money and clean the buildings, but the countryside was cracking. :-D

Been years since I had Potted Heid as we called it here. :-D

Some of my favourites are, Haggis; Home made Scotch Broth; Lorne Sausage; Potted Meat; Ayrshire Bacon; Scotch Pies; Steak Bridies; Mature Scottish Red Cheddar; Clootie Dumpling; Short Bread; Dundee Cake; Smokies; Scottish Morning Rolls; Plain Bread; and of course a decent malt whisky- I wonder if any of these contributed to my health today :-(

Rowies, tablet and Clootie no can't call
them health foods. :-)

I loved tablet - my mum used to make it, if memory serves me right she used condensed milk, I used to watch her and scoff the bits from the saucer she used to test it on to see if it was ready and I can also remember my brother and I fighting over who got to lick the bowl when she made a clootie dumpling - delicious fried ;-)

Used to make tablet when working week-ends to
sell when hospital visitors came to see their family.
All for Ward funds, Clootie Dumpling went down a treat
as well. :-)

Ah Yes that's what they're called Aberdeen Rowies not always greasy But delicious heated and loads of real butter . No wonder Scots have very high heart problems .... but we like em. Got them once years ago down here down South but not a patch on the real thing didn't last long in the shop either may have been M&*
What about tablet??? Just found a recipe for microwave tablet takes 12 mins and just as good ;-)

Even greasier with a slice of Lorne Sausage in them, better still with some fresh salted butter and a thick slice of Scottish Red Cheddar - delicious ;-)

Like Aberdeen Rowies but found them a bit greasy.

When my mum's aunt who lived in Aberdeen would bring a bag of Aitkens rowies when she visited us :-)

We went to the West coast one year and I took
along S/S from Avon never bitten once.

Any lover of Aberdeen Rowies out there?
