Come on, Glasgow Lass,

Lets not have a Weegies v Burghers war . Born and brought in Edinburgh, I worked in Glasgow before I came South so I cannot take sides.

Let's keep the difference -like salt and sauce on fish and chips in Edinburgh and salt and vinegar on fish and chips in Glasgow.

GlasgowLass -sausages yes but burghers no way, in saying that I have been known to casseroled burghers using lots of sliced onions - on that note time to fix something to eat ;-)

Weegies v Burghers.
Weegies still sometimes add sausages to our steak pie ( i do) , but the Burghers think it's cheap!

Glayva ice cream? Baileys perhaps?

I don't know why you thought of that, funny how somethings just come to mind, I was looking at steak pies in Tesco today and it made me think of the steak pies my gran and mum used to make in the late 40's and early 50's when rationing was still in place, to make what stewing steak she had go further she used to add some beef sausages to it and before thickening the stewing steak she would cut the sausages up, delicious as was her puff pastry.

GlasgowLass would love to have a browse round the shop but but but do you really have to have macaroons on display and we can't buy them :-( bad of you very bad :-( ....Son got a shop in Aus only selling Aus gifts but nice

OFTG icecream sounds good may well try that will even give Drambuie a go not so keen on it though must say .... if I do you will be the first to hear ;-)
Now then crusts of pies I always leave them till end then cover in HP not so sure about putting middle in roll doesn't delight me that idea reminds me of going to a funeral wake and there was a beautiful apple pie on table homemade so took a bit first bite ........it was a cold mince beef pie ugh it would have been great if it was hot , ..... don't know why I thought of that just now :-S

There! I said it. LOL

Remember being small and you were allowed one of your parent's chocolate liqueur sweets at Christmas/New Year?
The Drambuie one was the absolute worst.
I hated it then and I still do.

Nolls from Harrogate - enjoy, I used to eat the crust then put the rest in a buttered soft morning roll ;-)

Seeing it so hot here is something to cool you down :-)

Drambuie Ice Cream

4oz/125g caster sugar
6 tablespoons water
6 egg yolks
7 fluid ounces (210ml) double cream, lightly whipped
3 tablespoons Drambuie

Bring the water and sugar to the boil in a small saucepan and then set aside. Whisk the egg yolks in a bowl over a pot of hot water or a bain marie. Once they are light in colour, add the water and sugar mixture and whisk until it forms a ribbon. Then remove from the heat and continue to whisk until it is cool. Add the Drambuie and the lightly whipped cream, freeze overnight and serve with apple pie.

Well another hot hot day here but managed to get the curtains up and tidied up after the workmen so now nothing to do ...OH OFTG Scottish pies have arrived now if anyone would like to join me in a picnic your welcome (12 pies but we could half) :-D

I had to go out tonight, but as I left the house at 8pm, I caught a glimpse of The Tunnocks Factory in Uddingston on BBC1
They were showing how the Teacakes were made!
My OH asked me that very question a few days ago...... how do they get the cream inside ?
I said I thought it went onto the biscuit base first and was just solid enough to have the chocolate put over the top.... thats exactly how it is done!

I still talk about plain or pan bread! ( sandwich loaf for everyone else)

I was told that in Fife, a loaf tin is a split-pan which produces two.
If you ask the bakers for a loaf, they will give you both, hence one needs to ask for a half loaf??

Cook Books are paper things which sit on a shelf in my house and are very rarely opened
I thought that nowadays, everyone used one of those things called ipads?

Mine sits on the kitchen worktop and instructs me how to cook things!
