I just had a memory flashback :-D

I'm not sure how old I was, but I was younger than 12, because it was when we still lived in Scotland. My brother was younger than 10.

Somebody came to our house and told a joke ~

How do you become a Scottish poet?

Stand by the fire until yer Rabbie Burns.

My brother went into complete hysterics, on the floor clutching his stomach, tears blinding him.

I got the joke, but didn't think it was THAT funny! Must be a male thing :-D

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D for all the poems.

Just back from Auld Reekie ......
Went to see Ardal O'Hanlon last night before the Tattoo.
He was good.
The Tattoo was really enjoyable ( although I've them before, I love the NZ dudes)
It was pouring from the heavens and we were soaked to the skin!
( Hotel room had a big jacuzzi bath.....lovely)

OFITG... I don't think I have ever seen Edinburgh so busy!!
The Grassmarket is heaving and trying to walk down the Royal Mile is a real challenge!

We are going back again on Sunday... have tickets for 3 or 4 more events .

With apologies to Rabbie Burns <3

TAE A FERT

Oh what a sleekit horrible beastie
Lurks in yer belly efter the feastie
Just as ye sit doon among yer kin
There starts to stir an enormous wind

The neeps and tatties and mushy peas
Start workin in a gentle breeze
But soon the puddin wi the sauncie face
Will have ye bawlin al ower the place

Nae matter whit the hell ye dae
a'bodys gonnae have to pay
Even if ye try to stifle
It's like a bullet from a rifle

Hawd yer bum tight tae the chair
Tae try and stop the leaking air
Shift yersel fae cheek tae cheek
Prae to god it doesnae reek

But aw yer efforts go assunder
Oot it comes like a clap a thunder
Ricoches aroon the room
Michty me a sonic boom

God almighty it fairly reeks
Hope I huvnae sh!t ma breeks
Tae the bog I better scurry
Aw whit the hell it's nae ma worry

A'body aroon aboot me chokin
Wan or two are nearly bokin
I'll feel better for a while
Cannae help but raise a smile

Wis Him! I shout with accusin glower
Alas too late, He's just keeled ower
Ye dirty bugg*r they shout and stare
A dinnae feel welcome any mair

Where e'er ye go let yer wind gan' free
Sounds like just the job fur me
Whit a fuss at Rabbie' perty
Ower the sake o'won wee ferty

:-D

Edit: Oops! I noticed some typos, I've corrected them

Agree Robert it's been a long time coming and
as long as they keep on what they are doing
(only been two games) hopefully they will give their
supporters something to smile about for a change.

Emma :-)

GG and GL,

I am a Hearts supporter, but I feel the Dons are going to have a good season. They have a young lively go-ahead Manager.

OFTG I like that!

My Flag's unfurled and so we stand
If called upon we come
Our Scottish Blood may well be spilled
But we will soldier on
We watch them through the mist
We will not move we will stand guard
Though they stand with cudgel and with fist
Together the enemy we face
Cos we are the Nobelist Proudest Race

;-) ;-)

My Scottish Pride

My Scottish pride, I will not hide.
My Scottish race, I will not disgrace.
My Scottish blood, flows hot and true.
My Scottish people, I will stand by you.
Through thick and thin, till the day we die.
Our Scottish flag, will always fly high.
I shout this poem, louder than all the rest.
Because everyone knows, we Scottish are the best.

Talking about Tunnocks teacakes. went to Morrisons this morning to get some Tunnocks Plain chocolate caramel wafers but they did not have any but I did get some Plain chocolate teacakes.
I wouldn't mind but I was up in Aviemore last week and could have got any amount of Plain chocolate caramel wafers.
Never mind, I got Fruit Pudding and caramel logs locally today.

Forgot to say - I brought a load of Ecclefechan tarts back from Aviemore!!!
