A Walking football tournament (for the over 50s) took place in Newcastle today. Teams from far and wide took part including Teams from Edinburgh, Glasgow and would you believe it EAST KILBRIDE!!!

So EK is famous once again GlasgowLass.

Wonder what Haggis Tikka Masala would taste like???

Did you know that one of the most popular Indian dishes, Chicken Tikka Masala, was invented in Glasgow?

Ali Ahmed Aslam, proprietor of the Shish Mahal restaurant in the west end of Glasgow, invented chicken tikka masala in 1971. His son Asif Ali explained how this came about...

"On a typical dark, wet Glasgow night a bus driver coming off shift came in and ordered a chicken curry. He sent it back to the waiter saying it's dry. At the time Dad had an ulcer and was enjoying a plate of tomato soup. So he said why not put some tomato soup into the curry with some spices. They sent it back to the table and the bus driver absolutely loved it. He and his friends came back again and again and we put it on the menu."

A wealthy Arab Sheik was admitted to hospital for heart surgery, but prior to the surgery, the doctors needed to store his type of blood in case the need arose.

As the gentleman had a rare type of blood, it couldn't be found locally, so, the call went out.

Finally a Scotsman was located who had a similar blood type. The Scot willingly donated his blood for the Arab.

After the surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman in appreciation for giving his blood, a new BMW, 5 carats of diamonds, and $50,000 dollars.

A couple of weeks later, once again, the Arab had to go through a corrective surgery.

The hospital telephoned the Scotsman who was more than happy to donate more of his blood again.

After the second surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman a thank-you card and a box of Black Magic chocolates.

The Scotsman was shocked that the Arab did not reciprocate his kind gesture as he had before.

He phoned the Arab and asked him: "I thought you would be generous again, that you would give me another BMW, diamonds and money ... but you only gave me a thank-you card and a box of chocolates."


To this the Arab replied: "Aye laddie, but I have Scottish blood in ma veins now".




For any pernickety folks..... I had to put $50,000 because there's no "pound" symbol on my keyboard............ and I can't be bothered looking for the shortcut. :-D

You should have seen my cousin's face when he told her we got to her place via........ wait for it........... Dumb Fries. Yes, that's how he thought it was pronounced.

I wasn't brave enough to take him to Auchtermuchty.

The trouble with Scottish expressions is that you can say them but more often than not ye cannae spell them.

I hadn't heard it .... as I said, I don't know many Scots locally.... and when I find a Scottish joke I torment Himself :-D...... that's the man who says "pilly willy" when he's trying to talk "Scottish"
