Resurrection of the Scottish thread.

Robert, do you recall the conversation from earlier this year re EKFC and their game against Celtic?

Their recent success story has also gone viral.
Lowland League:
EKFC equalled the record set by Ajax by winning 26 games in a row.
Ajax sent messages of congratulations.

EKFC went on to win their 27th match, beating the Ajax record
Ajax representatives secretly turned up at K-Park during this game and delivered 27 crates of beer.

It was even on Question of Sport this week !

There's a ghost at Silverburn Shopping Centre and it's "terrifying" shoppers.

To be honest, I would be more surprised if I found a space in the car park. !

:-D :-D :-D :-D

What a lovely mixed bunch we are - and why not, as variety is the spice of life. :-D

I have a Scottish 2 x great-grandmother, an Irish 2 x great-grandfather and Welsh 3 x great-grandparents. The rest of me is English as far back as the mid-1600s according to copies of land documents and wills I have.

My accent has changed three or four times in my life as I have moved around (once to Oz). I am not good at any other accents but my children are brilliant at accents - they listen, they speak. I don't half wish I had that skill. :-D

Lady Scozz, thanks for the tip about Scotland's People. I'll give it a go.

Robert, I know you live near my neck of the woods as does GP.

Running Man Challenge on You Tube.

Started by 2 US kids in school, picked up by 2 young Basketball players and suddenly it's viral.
How did it became a challenge?

LadyScozz, you might like watching Police Scotland take up the challenge, especially Tulliallan Training College but I laughed at Northern Territory Police, Australia.
No one has challenged them yet !

Welcome Joy Louise. I apologise in advance for my bad jokes.

I was born in Scotland, but left when I was 12... I speak with an Aussie accent now, except when I have more than one nippy sweetie.

G.Lass.... I too have Irish blood (on Mum's side), but it goes back a few generations, Mum's side has Scottish, Irish, Spanish & Viking....... Dad's is all Scottish, except for a one set of 6xgreat-grandparents (born in Worcester about 1700).

Emma ~ sorry the free points didn't work for you..... maybe the expiry date has been & gone.... have a look at the Scotland Now website... they might do it again.

Welcome JoyLouise,

Don't worry about your Englishness.
Although born and brought up in Edinburgh, I have lived in England for the
last 53 years!!!

I wouldn't worry JoyLouise, you are welcome to join in.

I was born and raised in Lanarkshire.
In fact starting with my paternal grandmother, her paternal line of my family has been in Scotland as far back as I can trace ... circa 1600 ( probably long before that)

May come as a surprise but over the last 200yrs,I have ended up with just over 6% Scottish blood.
So forgive me for my..... Irishness!

( Last time I had 2 Scots direct ancestors that married each other was... 1815)
Every marriage in the direct line from there down to me involved a 100% Irish spouse, and the bloodline diluted Scots/Irish
Yes... even my own mother was born and raised in Ireland
LOL

JoyLouise Report 5 May 2016 15:21

My Scottish claim is I am a descendant of the Jeffrey family of Roxburgh and Kelso. Some direct ancestors moved to Brydekirk then on to Glasgow.

So, I hope I can join in your thread without anyone casting aspersions on my Englishness. :-D

A wee story.........

A tough old sheep farmer from northern Scotland gave some advice to his granddaughter back at the start of the Great War in 1914. He told her that the secret to a long life was to sprinkle a pinch of gunpowder onto her breakfast every morning. The grand daughter followed this dictum religiously until her death at the venerable age of 109. She left behind 14 children, 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren. And a forty foot hole where the crematorium used to be.
