so the heading of this thread "from your point of view" is not to be from everyone's point of view

I agree Carol Paine.........

With three grown-up daughters my Son-in-Law' buys these on regular basis, along with their soap, shampoo, hairsprays, body-sprays etc etc.

To him it is just part of the weekly shop.

Lyndi Report 26 Jun 2013 12:30

I agree it is a normal part of life and discussion about it doesn't bother me in the slightest, but sniping about it is a different thing altogether.

Carol. Dare I say that is almost exactly what I wanted to say. And thought I had said. :-S

If I am shopping alone, it is something I put in my trolley without thinking. To me, it is just a product on open shelving. I would be more embarrassed if I had to stealthily push my trolley to the tobacco kiosk, ask for Consulate and have the screens parted by an embarrassed young assistant :-)

I know that the subject was/is taboo in many households, but in ours it was/is just a part of becoming women.
As a girl growing up in the 50's/60's in a household where my father (Born 1905) had 4 daughters, it was not uncommon for him to walk over to the village shop to buy sanitary products if we had run out, in the same way that we might be sent out to buy razor blades for him. (Though the later was often necessary because his last one had been used by one of us. lol)

Why should it be embarrassing if a man speaks of these things? Half the population uses/has used them, we are not speaking of anything to be ashamed of.

As for the 'Mother Nature' advertisement, it is very probable that several males were responsible for it's filming.

I reported those posts - am sick and tired of the aggro and sniping. If GR see fit to restore them so be it but they spoiled what was a balanced and reasonable debate

who was discussing sex? and in all my 43 years of marriage the word Tampax never passed my husband's lips - but then he was a gentleman

JustJohn Report 26 Jun 2013 11:18

Ann, I was discussing product placement :-( Inappropriate advertising images. Was supporting Opening Poster Sharron.

I have nothing to do with sex.

@ Geordie I totally agree with you, I joined in October last year too. I initially enjoyed contributing to the threads but sadly not so much recently. It is such a pity that it now seems so argumentative, as opposed to friendly open discussions, with sniping and back biting as opposed to funny banter. I hope things will get back to “normal” soon.

Lyndi

Lyndi Report 26 Jun 2013 10:56

GeordieinNorfolk, maybe it will get better before October - mine don't run out till February

Let's hope so :-D

Lyndi - I quite agree, It's not how it used to be when I joined last October. I'll keep going until my subs runs out, but then I don't think I'll bother to renew.

Don't like all the backbiting, just want to have light discussions with some new friends! :-(

Jude, who could even begin to think about you dominating the boards!

And I can understand how upset and shocked you were at the time - your thread title told us that.

Would be good to get the boards back to some sort of normality!

:-D

JustJohn Report 26 Jun 2013 10:39

Jude. My comment on Sharron's thread was in reply to some discussion about a T*mpax advert. My purpose in posting was to say it was as inappropriate an advertising image as Consulate "cool as a mountain stream" used to be.

And incidentally, as inappropriate as Wonga's two old ladies trying to suggest that what Wonga do is morally acceptable.

Nothing to do with men or women. I have come a long way from serving in our paper shop when I was 15 and blushing to the roots when a lady (always a lady) asked me for Dr Whites No 2.
