Hi Jude, I've only just got back to this. Congrats on getting your keys. I hope you and Vic will be very happy in your new home.
We are still planning on moving the last week in September. The place we are moving in to is empty but we haven't signed any papers for it yet as our solicitor is getting the land registry plans looked at again. The way they are drawn seems to indicate that we have no right to get into the garage that goes with the house and there is a dotted line through the middle of the house that looks like a right of way!
We've got garage, shed, loft etc. cleared and packed as much as possible and OH has taken down wall cupboards, book shelves etc. in our study. We have made so many trips to the tip and half my home is now in the charity shops in town. We are trying to get well ahead as, would you believe, we are going away for a week this month. How is that for timing?
Enough about me. This is your thread.
Enjoy your new home
Vera
EDIT: Added a missed out word

Morning:)
Thanks everyone:)
Vera...we move about the same time as you then and ours is empty too. Going round again this afternoon to meet the builder to check all is ok re the work he's going to be doing, added a few items to his list too:)))
A neighbour is going to cut back masses of St Johns wort bushes today, lovely as they are they have to go to make room for the skip arriving Monday, then w/e Vic will start on the front garden, everything has to be cleared for the dog...lol and fenced off.
My sister garage is gradually filling up with our boxes and OHH yes our charity shop is doing very well:)) even my rags will be used:))
Will add photo's to blog asap, been as usual very slow with blog lately:((
No you carry on re your move its fine......anyone can join in :-) :-)

Hi Jude,
Hope your building work is going OK and that you will soon be moved in.
It looked for a couple of weeks as though our move was going to be delayed for a while which panicked our buyers as they have to be out of their rented accommodation by the end of the month. But suddenly everything has started moving again, so we are signing the final papers tomorrow and, fingers crossed, moving on 27th.

Hello :))
Corr flipping eck this moving lark is hard work innit...lol All the cupboards are bare except things l have packed in boxes and put back in cupboard. Food is all packed on work top. Old fridge/freezer emptied and cleaned and now defrosting in garden ready for new owner. Our fridge and freezer have been sorted and space made:)
Cleaned behind washing machine and d/washer....yehhhh...next behind fridge and freezer, then its the kitchen floor to be washed and hall, then hoover the rest....ooops and bathroom.
Edit.....Vic just taken a boot full of boxes to my sisters garage, and aload to go to charity shop in morning. New cooker arrived with d/washer:))) New house.....all walls plastered now and one & half painted, carpets for bedrooms in Thursday. Lounge carpet next week. Chassis repairs and insulation under the house 17th & 18th Oct.
Lights (down lights, wall and ceiling) and switches, being fitted as we speak. Outside front light to be sorted.
Vera...hows things going with you?? jude

I agree with you Jude - moving house is darned hard work.
All sorts packed up here and walls are bare. Washed behind fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher but kitchen cupboards and floor still to be washed. The removal company are coming in tomorrow to pack up a lot of the stuff, ready to move Friday.
BUT, and it's a big BUT, we haven't exchanged yet! I'm getting panicky now. There was a doubt about whether our buyers would get their mortgage in time and then, to cap the lot, the vendor of the house we are buying lives in Spain and gave his solicitor here power of attorney over the sale. Knowing we were about to exchange, this wonderful man went to the Oval for the day to watch cricket and was not answering his mobile. If we can't move Friday we have to pay the removal company 60% of the cost, so we could stand to lose a fair bit of money.
Anyway, I am glad yours is going well, even if you are exhausted. I'll let you know how we get on.

Thank you BC
The latest is that our buyer's mortgage company, having had everything they needed for weeks, two days before the move have decided to query the fact that there is a slightly different address on the original deeds and the buyer's mortgage application. There's a very simple explanation - the Post Office changed their system some 15 or so years ago and put us in a different post code area; but all these queries are causing more delays so WE STILL HAVEN'T EXCHANGED. Help!!
Three very nice men from the removal company arrived today and packed up my home so if we don't go on Friday I will be stuck here with one change of clothing, a few bits of crockery and next to no food. Our solicitor is still confident though. I wish I were! At least I can't go grey; I'm that already.
Hope things are going more smoothly for you Jude. Best of luck.

Thanks Uzzi.
I'm feeling a lot calmer now as we heard about an hour ago that we can complete tomorrow so our move is on.
OH will be disconnecting the computer shortly so I will probably be offline for a few days. Hopefully when I get back on you'll be settled in your new home Jude. Good luck.

Hello Vera....hopefully you are in your new home now?? oh l do hope so, fancy being all packed and still not 100% sure whats happening.....your hair could have gone white...lol
We're off tomorrow. l'm as good as packed just the few things we are using now and to hoover behind furniture as it goes, a few legs to be unscrewed, one bed to be dismantled...son will do that this evening when he arrives....OUR PROBLEM will be if the furniture won't go through the blinky door, also the angle of the bedroom doors. Builder had to remove glass from window to get the new cooker in the other day, but we can't remove bedroom doors now!! When the lady moved from there a neighbour had to saw the legs off 2 gorgeous leather chairs.
Anyways hope all went well for you Vera:)
Photo's are on blog now....:)
