"The incident happened close to Woolwich Barracks, and local MP Nick Raynsford said the dead man was serving there, however the Ministry of Defence could not confirm this."
............

Lots of 'unconfirmed' statements on the 6 o'clock BBC news, but nothing about a beheading.

They have just repeated that they CANNOT confirm it was a soldier on the BBC...nor have they said he was beheaded.

George

George Report 22 May 2013 19:43

Well, not sure what news you were watching, but it clearly was stated that he was a soldier, and that he was beheaded.
I never said it was a terrorist attack, I said it was by two Muslim fanatics.

That wasn't what I meant George,

a) it has not yet been confirmed the victim was a soldier
b) it has not been stated that he was beheaded
c) it hasn't been confirmed it was a "terrorist" attack, yet...ie it could be two individuals acting alone.

George

George Report 22 May 2013 19:30

Rambling Rose,
On the news the black guy was praising Allah, therefore he certainly wasn't catholic.
Are we not permitted to say they were Muslim.?

I don't know where that is mentioned George, but it hasn't been stated on the news as far as I know?

I think it might be better for confirmation of facts first before speculation? some stuff is coming through Twiitter...hardly reliable.

You tell me, there is obviously someone on here who takes great delight at reporting anything that does not please.
A right sad bugger who should get a life.

Why on earth is Ann's thread RRd? Incredible!!

Hardly any replies, too!! Why not?

From a comment on BBC's site...

"Will the government now come to their senses, and realize the war is on the British streets, not in afghanistan."

TOO TRUE, MATE!! TOO TRUE!

I must also be the only person on GR to agree with Rollo's comment about the translators getting free board and lodging!
They'll claim their famly and friends to live in UK, too. Nothing new there!

BTW, I received an absolutely sickening link by e-mail yesterday!
This 'evil' - my words - took place in Libya in April 2012.
I truly cannot believe I knew nothing about it!

If you have lost a relative to conflict - regardless the year and place - you will be totally
INCENSED
at this 3 minute footage.

It was all I could do to stay with it to the end!
It is SICKENING and utterly disrespectful in the extreme!!

Watch if you dare - and weep for those who cannot defend their honour!!

RIP - if you can - you brave and fallen men and women of our country!
(It WAS our country not long ago - but things have changed - for the worse!)

I am so sorry we have let your bravery and sacrifce drift away forever.
We are indeed no longer the society of the British Bulldog standing up for our sons and daughters who went away to defend our shores and its citizens!

(I shall not put the complete e-mail, just the link below!)

What can you say if I did say what I think I would probably be banned. I really can't add anything apart from my horror and sympathy to the family. Just wish they had been shot dead. To be honest I could sit down and cry for the way our beautiful Country is going

.......'Terrorist pair' hack 'serving soldier' to death in horrific machete attack
Shocked eyewitnesses in Woolwich, south east London, said the young victim, who was wearing a 'Help for Heroes' t-shirt, was repeatedly knifed before two men were then shot.
By Chris Parsons | Yahoo! News – 2 hours 20 minutes ago....Email 0Share 0Tweet0Share0Print.....
.....Two men have been shot by armed police after a serving soldier was stabbed to death in a 'crazed' machete attack in broad daylight.

The young victim in Woolwich, south east London, was said to have been hacked with knives, including a meat cleaver, by two black men in broad daylight.

Horrified eyewitness claimed the attackers then 'stood around waving knives and guns...asking people to take pictures', after slashing their victim 'like a piece of meat'.

One witness, identified as James, said he and his partner saw two black men dumped the victim's body in the middle of a busy road.

"They were hacking at this poor guy, literally," he told LBC.

"They were hacking at him, chopping him, cutting him.
Fighting back tears, James said the men treated their victim as a "piece of meat" after he was dead.

"These two guys were crazed," he told the radio station.

He said that after the "horrendous" attack, the two men, in their 20s, just stood around, waving knives and a gun, even asking people nearby to take pictures of them "as if they wanted to be on TV or something".

"They were oblivious to anything, they were more worried about having their photo taken, running up and down the road," he said.

"In my opinion, they were waiting for the police to arrive to be shot by the police. That's the only thing I can think.

"It's horrendous what they were doing to that guy."

John Wilson Street was shut in both directions between Artillery Place and New Ferry Approach.

Prime Minister David Cameron described the Woolwich killing as "truly shocking" and said he had asked the Home Secretary to chair a meeting of Cobra, the Government's emergency committee.
Pictures showing three men lying on the ground appeared on Twitter shortly after the incident.

The images also appeared to show knives and bloodstains at the junction of John Wilson Street and Wellington Street.
Witnesses described the incident on Twitter as ''horrific''.

One user, using the account @Boyadee, wrote of seeing two men decapitate another man in front of him as he went to a nearby shop.

He suggested that the men looked like they were on drugs, waiting for the police to arrive and then going towards them with "just two machete and an old rusty lookin revolver".
