There are several trees on 'Mundia' which are interesting Mick and free to join, no help with the deaths though,

I sent 10, pp22561-225670, will go back and do more, can you tell me final page/image no please RR?

Kucinta, I am having difficulty with PMing or emailing images, but there are two lots, one is for pre WW1 military service and one lot of 27 images for WW1 . I may have to print them offand then scan them in again to email.

Trying to pm those Ancestry images...seem to be more than 6.

Mick. I can't find a death for John or Sarah either.

Right....quick update - I have gone through all the above, got hold of original docs. cos I wanted to see other details like occupations and where born etc. John and Sarah (Notley) Mackelworth are the parents of grandfather Charles. They are on the 1861 and 1871 census - the son to the Head of household is shown on the 1871 record.

The 1881 census shows another John and Sarah Ann (Gibbs) Mackelworth. This is the brother of grandfather charles. But where are the original John and Sarah? I couldn't find a death record for either of them. It seems this son John has taken over the household. He appears to be shown on the 1861 census but not the 1871 census. I think its him only by virtue of the age and the no. of years to the census. It is what it should be to within one year.

Andy I can do that with some images but others ( eg the military images) don't have that option when I click on 'more'. Thanks though, I will find a way ! :-D

RR, you can send images from Ancestry direct by email. There is a 'more' tab top right of each page and in the dropdown menu is an email link. Sends the image without having to save to you computer.

A minor hiccup. My cousin in Australia has the dob for Ivy (her mother) as 19/10/27. Your record entry shows it as Q4 1925. I have asked her to confirm this. Pity we don't have a census record to read.

I bet she fibbed ;-)

Andy thank you so much for these. You have squared the circle with respect to George and John - these two hadn't appeared on anyone's tree but they will now. Their dying suggests why no one had heard of them. They were never mentioned by the family so they were never searched for. All the others continued to live.

Also, John dying in Woolwich suggests the Woolwich barracks to me. RamblingRose has said that military records suggest Charles was back in the Army for WW1 despite his age.

Andy, I've offered to email Mick the images from Ancestry, but I'm having problems saving them so will do so later if I can, however there are some records for Charles from WW1 that show the children, including the death cert for the George you have listed. :-D

Thank you Andy. There should be a Robert, a Frederick (my father), and an Ivy. Robert is the grandfather of my 1st cousin once removed, and Ivy is the mother of my first cousin in Australia.

There shouldn't be any more (living) but there may be some who didn't survive. I borrowed these from my Oz cousin. I haven't actually checked myself.

There are more children after 1911. Can't post at the moment as away from computer. Will do so later if no one else does.

I feel rather dumb seeing all these wonderful findings you and others here are making. Family history research is a real art form isn't it?

Thank you for these replies. I have seen the handwriting on census forms so I can see how names could be corrupted. I will send off for the marriage certificate of Charles and Alice 1902. It would be a nice thing to have apart from the info it gives.

The surname link is awesome. I can quite see how there are so many variants. It's also interesting to read the r before o is the original spelling. Outstanding stuff and a lot for me to get my head around. I have opened an Excel document to try and keep it all organised :-D
