Mauatthecoast Report 16 Jul 2013 13:11

Lloyd say Paul speak with forked tongue :-| :-D

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 16 Jul 2013 12:22

yes Mau - I connected with cowboys and Indians - white man - redskins

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 16 Jul 2013 12:03

yes I thought that too Island....one rule for one and.......

Just heard someone say this morning that the turn of phrase used by Paul was connected to playing cowboys and Indians (sorry North Americans) :-(....the good men wore white hats ? :-S :-D

Island

Island Report 16 Jul 2013 11:44

yeah but they do know we get cold winters :-D

I think the prolonged fuss is out of character for Lloyd too Ann. As for Sophie and Jenna standing at the bar like a couple of startled rabbits in a cars headlights and Sophie asking Paul if he wanted to be served (oops, is that non pc?) by the Asian or the lesbian!!! :-S :-S Are they suggesting it is ok to victimize someone for an unfortunate comment?

AnninGlos Report 16 Jul 2013 10:41

Probably because they couldn't envisage uk ever having another heatwave.

I have heard the phrase although not one I'd probably use. But it never honestly occurred to me that it was racist.

I suppose the inference is that only white people are fair/honest but I am not sure why somebody Sophie's age would automatically find it offensive.

But we have got drugs in emmerdale so maybe they needed a 'cause' to focus on. Can't actually imagine Lloyd's character worrying about it though.

Island

Island Report 16 Jul 2013 10:33

I hadn't heard the expression for decades, didn't know the meaning either so I don't know why Miss Prim Sophie Webster is involving herself. OTT.

In the winter the females on the street - except Emily and Rita - wear clothes that wouldn't keep a budgie warm. Now it is July they are dressed for the cold - why was Drearie wearing her winter coat last night? :-S

AnnCardiff Report 16 Jul 2013 08:04

I've heard that phrase many times but quite honestly never considered it to be a racist comment - is it just me?

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 15 Jul 2013 23:58

re Paul and Lloyd ..... hands up who has spoken 'that offending phrase' in the dark past? :-0..the shame :-(....but what a stare that Paul gives out. :-|

I loved the saying Deidre quoted as being one of her mother's (Blanche) who always had the best lines imo........."it's a small world but I wouldn't like to hoover it." :-D :-D

edit: Transmogrified = in a surprising or magical manner. ;-)

MotownGal Report 15 Jul 2013 19:48

I still missed the Omnibus edition. I had to go into work early. So did not see the offending episode.

But it is all kicking off with Paul and Lloyd. As I am in the dark still, I am transmogrified!!!!!

Nah, I don't know what that means either!!!!

So he is. I was thinking of Daniel Osbourne who is never mentioned.

According to a website I've just been reading, Adam is Ken's grandson.
Adam's mother was Susan (Ken's deceased daughter) and Adam's father was Mike Baldwin.
Found the info on this site.

Adam is Ken's son by Denise, the hairdresser who had Audrey's salon when Fiona and Maxine worked there. Fiona I think then bought it when Denise left.

Eileen's fireman, who I can never remember the name of, made the racist comment when playing darts with Steve. It was overheard by Lloyd and his daughter who got upset when Eileen's fireman didn't apologise and called him a racist. Fireman then took exception to being called a racist and demanded an apology, which Lloyd found incredible as it was his racist comment which started the argument in the first place.

I too am bored with David, Kylie, Nick and Leanne saga. How come nobody suspects David after his past performances and the fact he stirs it every time he is alone with someone?

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 13 Jul 2013 20:49

I missed the two episodes on Friday, remind me, is Adam, Ken's son?

I think there was some 'racial comments' on Corrie? I will try and watch the omnibus before I go to work tomorrow.

I am getting bored now with the David, Kylie, Nick and Leanne story. How long before the doo doo hits the fan?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Jul 2013 19:41

So now they have explained where Ken is. He has dropped everything to go and see Adam who 'blacked out'. (Everything being walking Eccles according to Tracy who didn't get up to see him off at 5.30am). :-D

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 11 Jul 2013 21:41

hahaha We often say that... folk live across the street and ask for a tea to take away...where to? the red rec.? :-S ...must get big wages in Corrie Town...darn it forget it's a soap!!! ;-)

...and Is Eileen about to lose her 'hunky fireman' ? :-S

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 11 Jul 2013 19:59

It just amuses me that everyone eats in the caff instead of cooking breakfast at home.

And each lunchtime and evening they spend their time and money in the pub or the wine bar.

Beggered if I could afford to live like that!
